Xiaomi on Thursday held its spring product launch event, where it unveiled the new-generation Xiaomi SU7, positioning the model as an upgraded offering in its electric vehicle lineup. The new SU7 introduces updates across safety, driving performance and in-car technology, according to the company. It comes equipped with Xiaomi’s V6s Plus motor and a silicon carbide-based high-voltage platform, while the Pro version offers a claimed range of up to 902 km. The Max variant supports fast charging, adding up to 670 km of range in 15 minutes under certain conditions.
Xiaomi said the SU7 Max can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.08 seconds, with a top speed of 265 km/h. On safety, the vehicle uses 2200 MPa-strength steel in parts of the body structure and includes nine airbags and a redundant door handle system. Pricing starts at 219,900 yuan ($30,800), slightly higher than the previous generation. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said the upgrades justify the increase. [TechNode Reporting]
