Rightmove, the UK’s largest digital property platform, is joining the scores of firms betting on AI search features through a new collaboration with Google.
Announced on Friday, Google’s Gemini models will be integrated into Rightmove’s property search service which will include conversational “natural language” search and “personalised property discovery”.
With Gemini technology built into the platform, users will have the option to describe property requirements and desires in their own words instead of the standard system of checkbox-based filters.
“We’re constantly innovating to evolve the Rightmove home-moving experience, increasingly using AI to enhance the property search experience by leveraging our leading data, and personalisation capabilities alongside Google’s latest technology offering,” said Tarah Lourens, CTO at Rightmove.
“This latest launch caters to the growing interest in description-based search and will complement our existing range of tools. We believe this will genuinely add value for people moving home and for our partners.”
The collaboration marks yet another example of a growing trend of online platforms teaming up with tech giants to soup up search features with the inclusion of large language models that can interpret more natural language requests.
Similar moves have been made by the likes of JD Sports and Debenhams, with more brands likely to follow.
