In the buffet of streaming services, HBO Max delivers high satisfaction thanks to quality original programming and partnerships with a bunch of cable networks. It’s up for sale, but negotiations continue without any real changes in the value proposition. March looks super solid, with lots of interesting documentaries, hit movies, and comedy series to partake in. Here are our choices for the best new movies and shows arriving in March 2026.

DTF St. Louis (March 1)

It’s a pretty terrible title, but DTF St. Louis looks like the kind of boundary-pushing dark comedy fun we’ve come to expect from HBO Max. Created and directed by Steven Conrad, it stars Jason Bateman as a middle-aged TV weatherman whose wife (the always radiant Linda Cardellini) gets entangled with another man, leading to complications up to and including one of their deaths. HBO Max is also streaming it in a version with an American Sign Language interpreter on-screen, which they’ve been doing for a few recent shows.

Fukushima: A Nuclear Nightmare (March 10)

The March 2011 earthquake that hit off the northeast coast of Japan would have been damaging enough on its own. But when the tsunami generated by the shock destabilized the cooling systems of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, the potential for disaster became exponentially greater. This new documentary dives into the Japanese government’s response to the disaster, as well as how the Fukushima area has reacted in the 15 years since.

  • Director: James Jones

  • Genre: Documentary

  • Rating: TV-MA

From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina (March 27)

How long do you think they can keep the John Wick-iverse going before it gets too silly? The first spinoff, Ballerina, doesn’t break any new ground, but it still provides all of the ridiculous gunplay, bizarre assassin lore, and scenery-chewing performances we love. Ana de Armas stars as a woman raised by the Ruska Roma guild to become a contract killer, only to go rogue when she meets a member of the cult that murdered her parents.
