Cricut has announced new versions of two of its cutting machines that could appeal to crafters struggling with limited space for their hobby. The new Cricut Explore 5 is 30 percent “more compact” than the Explore 4 that launched a year ago, without reducing the size or types of materials the machine can handle. The new Cricut Joy 2 is an even smaller alternative to the Explore 5 and adds the ability to precisely slice pre-printed materials so you can finally open that Etsy sticker shop.

The Cricut Explore 5 will be available starting on February 27th for $199 and comes with enough materials to make up to 30 projects. It can also be purchased as part of more expensive bundles that include additional tools and materials. Despite being up to an inch smaller in some dimensions compared to last year’s model, the Explore 5 can still cut over 100 different materials, including cardstock and vinyl, up to 12 inches wide. It’s compatible with six tools, including various cutting blades, and includes an upgraded snap-in pen holder to improve the machine’s writing and drawing capabilities. You can get it in taupe or teal, which is exclusive to Michaels.

The Cricut Joy 2 will also be available on February 27th but is much cheaper at $99 with enough materials for 35 projects, or you can spring for pricier bundles that include even more. It can slice over 75 different materials up to 4.25 inches wide, and includes a new “Print Then Cut” sensor that can precisely cut around images printed by another device. It’s launching in three color options including blue, coral, and the Michaels-exclusive jade green.

Correction, February 26th: An earlier version of this article misstated the machines will be available on February 26th, 2026. They will be available starting on February 27th, 2026.
