Apple fans, get ready for a big week

Apple CEO Tim Cook has signalled a significant week of product announcements, commencing Monday morning and culminating in the company’s confirmed March 4 event.

Cook’s recent post on X, teasing “a big week ahead” and stating, “It all starts Monday morning!” suggests a strategy of disseminating news across multiple days rather than consolidating all releases into a single event.

The central focus of this highly anticipated period is expected to be the debut of a long-rumoured low-cost MacBook.

Industry reports indicate this new portable Mac could be priced around $699, positioning it as Apple’s most accessible offering in the Mac lineup. It is said to be powered by an A-series chip optimised to run macOS, a notable shift for the budget Mac segment.

A teaser video shared by Cook, featuring silver elements that coalesce into the Apple logo, reinforces the widespread speculation that new Mac hardware will be a primary reveal.

In addition to the budget MacBook, Apple is poised to introduce substantial updates across its iPad portfolio. Anticipated releases include a new entry-level iPad featuring the A18 chip, promising enhanced performance over its predecessor. Furthermore, a new iPad Air is expected to be unveiled, reportedly housing the powerful M4 processor, typically reserved for professional-grade devices.

This potential upgrade signifies a major performance boost for the mid-range tablet.

The company’s iPhone lineup is also rumoured to see an addition: the iPhone 17e. Positioned as the successor to the successful mid-range iPhone 16e, this new model is expected to integrate the A19 processor, ensuring a significant acceleration in processing power and efficiency for the device.
