TL;DR

  • Even Realities’ G2 smart glasses now have access to dozens of apps through a dedicated app store, called Even Hub.
  • These apps range from ebook readers to weather and Chess.
  • Even has also opened up the SDK and has invited third-party developers to submit their apps.

The landscape for smart glasses is already hot, thanks to Meta’s wide success. It’s expected to heat up even more with Google’s anticipated participation through the upcoming Android XR smart glasses. But while these glasses are designed to help you analyze your surroundings better (cue: with cameras), Even Realities wants your smart glasses to be a more intentional aide for absorbing information. Its latest G2 smart glasses help you by automatically transcribing live conversations or providing verbal cues that float in front of your eyes, without distracting you. And it’s supposedly getting better with a range of apps now available for these glasses.

Last week, Even Realities brought Prep Notes to its G2 smart glasses. The feature allows users to get cues from large knowledge sources, such as PDFs or presentations. And today, it is bringing yet another big upgrade in the form of a dedicated app store, called Even Hub.

With Even Hub, owners of the Even G2 have access to nearly 50 apps and plug-ins built specifically for their smart glasses. From letting users read ebooks to guiding them through workouts to playing games such as chess, these apps let users accomplish a lot without crowding their line of sight.

Apps in Even Hub are designed with the same minimalist, monochrome aesthetic as the system apps already available. These can be controlled using Even’s R1 ring, which is specifically designed to let users scroll the screen’s content.

Some of the top apps Even Realities has highlighted as part of the showcase include EPUB reader, guided workouts, Tesla charge indicator, weather, stocks indicator, Chess, and “Stillness” for guided breathing exercises. Users can install the app via the Even Realities app on their phones, though they won’t need to pull out their phones to use the apps already installed on their glasses.

In addition to launching the Even Hub app store for G2 smart glasses users, Even Realities is also opening the Software Development Kit (SDK) to developers to build apps for the platform. It remarks that the SDK is now available to a community of 2,000 developers, suggesting we can see plenty more apps coming to the platform soon.

If you own a pair of Even G2 glasses, you can install these apps starting today. Even does not reveal whether these features will make their way to the previous-generation G1 smart glasses.
