Oracle’s mass layoff this week will affect 158 employees in Pleasanton, according to state documents.

The tech giant said 76 software developers, 30 application developers and 11 product management staff were among those laid off at 5815 Owens Drive. The facility remains open.

The total extent of layoffs at Oracle has not been confirmed, but the software company has also laid off 491 employees in Seattle, according to a separate notice from Washington state officials. Last fall, Oracle laid off 254 employees in the Bay Area as part of a major round of cuts that is affecting workers across the country.

Oracle had 162,000 employees in May 2025.

Shares of Oracle rose 0.79% on Thursday and nearly 4% this week, but are down more than 25% through 2026.

The company said in January it was raising $50 billion in debt and equity to help finance its artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Layoffs continue in the tech sector as companies ramp up AI spending. Meta laid off 198 employees in Silicon Valley as it also spends billions on AI.
