Ferrari opens a new chapter with the Luce, its first electric car. With 1,050 hp, this atypically styled sedan is also the brand’s first model to be able to accommodate five occupants.

Ferrari unveils its first electric car. Good news for everyone, it is a sedan and not an SUV. Bad news for some, his divisive style risks being talked about for a long time. In all cases, the aesthetic break is there. This indirect descendant of the FF and GTC4Lusso fully embraces its difference by not hesitating to go crazy with its 1,050 hp powered by an XXL 108 kWh battery. Enough to convince the purists? We are divided.

A roller profile and vertical windshield wipers: the crazy challenge of aerodynamics

The Maranello drawing board has certainly never seen anything like this. The car adopts a plunging hood ending on a flared grille. The latter incorporates almost invisible lights framing an air inlet allowing turbulence to be channeled towards the windshield. Since the windshield wipers are blocked vertically, the air flow is also not disturbed. Ferrari claims a drag coefficient of only 0.254.

Invisible lights and 24-inch rims: the total aesthetic break of the Luce

Sleek, the profile is based on 23-inch rims at the front and 24-inch at the rear. While some models adopt a more traditional five-spoke design, others feature discs that optimize aerodynamics. Pirelli P Zero tires have been specially designed for this model to optimize performance on the road. The stern has marked shoulders supporting an elliptical-shaped rear window. A shiny black strip highlights four circular lights evoking those of the 360 Modena.

Analog dials and rotating screen: the surprising inner paradox

The interior should be less divisive since the Luce is a clever blend of classicism and modernity. The ultra-simplistic three-spoke aluminum steering wheel is reminiscent of Ferraris of yesteryear, while the instrumentation consists of a triplet of analog dials. Framed by an elegant aluminum border, the central screen can rotate. The ventilation controls remain physical, while the steering wheel retains a selector to switch between driving modes. Pallets are also included.

4 engines, 1,050 hp and 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds: the monster’s technical sheet

The one on the left modulates the intensity of regenerative braking while the one on the right controls the torque in order to better manage acceleration. It will be necessary because with four engines developing a combined 1,050 hp and 990 Nm of torque, the Luce is capable of sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds before hitting 310 km/h at the top. While some cars do even better, it’s an achievement for a vehicle with a 600-liter trunk and a rear seat that can accommodate three occupants.

Already complete for 2027: an entry ticket for more than €500,000

Logical thing with a length of 5.02 meters, a width of 1.99 meters and a height of 1.54 meters. Enough to accommodate, in addition to passengers, a 108 kWh battery allowing a range of 530 km on the WLTP cycle. Nothing impressive, especially since this range of action is only possible in propulsion mode with power limited to 430 hp. Without breaking records, the fast charging is good in return, with 350 kW in DC direct current. All production of the Ferrari Luce has been reserved for the year 2027. You will therefore have to be patient and sign a check exceeding half a million euros.
