Apple Fitness+ Rings in the New Year With Comeback-Focused Workout Plans

For the past few years, Apple has welcomed the new year with updates to its premium Fitness+ service, adding new programs, new stars to its Spotlight series, and new guests for Time to Walk. Launching on Jan. 5, this year’s Fitness+ update includes three new workout programs meant to help you launch healthy habits. It also adds Mel B (Scary Spice) and Penn Badgley to Time to Walk, and Karol G and Bad Bunny to the Artist Spotlight series.

Fitness Comeback Programs

The premium Fitness+ service, available via a tab within the Fitness app, offers a variety of guided workouts on your Apple devices, with live tracking enabled by wearables like the Apple Watch or even the new Apple AirPods Pro 3.

The biggest functional change to Fitness+ in this 2026 update comes from three new workout programs, all housed under the title Make Your Fitness Comeback. Meant to last three to four weeks, each program offers a structured series of two to three unique workouts per week. These workouts are progressive, as you’re meant to use the gains and momentum from early sessions to help in later sessions.

The first program is called Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks. It consists of two 10-minute sessions per week, with one focused on slow relaxation and the other focused on energized movements. The overall goals of the month-long program are building strength and stability.

The Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT program asks you to do three 20-minute sessions per week for three weeks. Each session focuses on strength for 10 minutes, and then HIIT (high intensity interval training) for the other 10. The sessions are meant to be done back-to-back to boost your muscles and your cardio.

Strength Basics in 3 Weeks goes over the fundamentals of building muscle, with a focus on technique for common moves. It consists of three workouts per week, with each tailored to a different area of the body.

Apple hasn’t noted any plans to offer subsequent programs building on these month-long intro sessions, but if you like them, you can then turn to the a la carte workouts for more options to keep your new routine going.

Working Out With the Stars

Time to Walk episodes are guided audio experiences in which celebrities share stories meant to entertain you as you walk. This year, Fitness+ adds episodes from Mel B, aka Scary Spice, Penn Badgley from You and Gossip Girl, and White Lotus star Michelle Monaghan.

Celebrity workout guests like fitness creator Allie Bennett, twin brother dancers Twin Sauce, and cookbook author Remy Park will each host a Fitness+ class. Karol G has been added to the Artist Spotlight series, in which a hosted workout uses a tailored playlist from a single artist. Bad Bunny has already been featured in this series, but in honor of his Super Bowl Halftime Show, Fitness+ is adding three new workouts centered around his music.

Fitness+ is $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year after a one-month free trial. If you buy an eligible Apple device, you can get three free months. It’s also included as part of the Apple One bundle.
