Apple has renewed its Studio Display monitor and has presented a new Studio Display XDR version focused on professional creators. The announcements are part of a week of presentations where we have also seen updates for its line of laptops, tablets and smart phones.

Studio Display

Four years after the launch of the Studio Display, Apple has introduced a revamped version of its line-in monitor. It is a screen with 27-inch ‘Retina’ IPS panel, 5K resolutionmaximum brightness of 600 nits and compatibility with the P3 color gamut. This is a minor upgrade over the original model, retaining its modest 60Hz refresh rate.

However, Apple increases the maximum brightness by 100 nits, improves the sound system with Spatial Audio, the integrated speakers to offer deeper bass levels and the quality of the microphones. It also introduces a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, adds support for Desk view, allows you to equip the monitor with standard or nano-textured glass, and launches compatibility with Thunderbolt 5.

Thus, the monitor connects to the Intel’s most advanced display interface (via USB Type-C) and offers up to 96W charging with a single cable. In addition, it has two additional USB Type-C ports for peripherals or charging additional devices. . The standard stand includes ergonomic tilt adjustments, but the customer can opt for an optional base that adds height adjustments or another with VESA mount for hanging on walls or articulated arms.

The new Apple Studio Display is available today, March 4, on the manufacturer’s website for pre-orders with delivery scheduled for March 11. It has a base Price in Spain of 1.699 euros. It will have to compete with other models from specialized manufacturers that may offer better value for money, although Apple maintains the advantage of integration with its ecosystem.

Studio Display XDR

Apple has presented a second monitor that, even with a higher price, meets the needs of creative professionals and other fields. Equip a Retina XDR panel with mini LED technology with 5K resolution, which stands out for its 2304 local dimming zones and a maximum brightness of 1000 nits SDR or 2000 nits in high dynamic range. It has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz under the Adaptive Sync standard and maximum compatibility with the P3 and Adobe RGB color ranges.

Apple has equipped the monitor with features such as DICOM Medical Imagingallowing doctors to view diagnostic radiology images directly on this screen. Like the revamped Studio Display, this XDR features a 12MP Center Stage camera, a three-microphone system, and a six-speaker sound system with spatial audio.

Can be connected via cable Thunderbolt 5 Type-C and additionally has two other USB Type-C ports for accessories and charging. A single cable (included in the box) transmits the image signal and provides up to 140W of power for Apple’s most powerful MacBook Pros. Lastly, the included stand allows for tilt and height adjustment, and users can opt for a standard VESA adapter.

The new Apple Studio Display XDR can now be reserved with a starting price of 3.499 euros and will be available on March 11.

More Apple news

Apple has been using the month of March to launch hardware and, as has happened in recent years, this week it has presented updates for several product lines. In addition to the Display Studio, the Cupertino firm has renewed its affordable iPhone, the ultraportable MacBook Air, the lightweight iPad Air tablet and what may be of most interest to the professional segment, the new MacBook Pro laptops. We summarize the presentations:

New MacBook Pro and Air

Apple has renewed its laptop range with the presentation of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, now powered by the M5 chip family. Apple has confirmed the viability of the ARM architecture in PCs with a ‘Silicon’ program that has amazed the rest of the industry by the speed and success with which the company has been able to make the transition from the previous x86. Each generation of its custom chips is a leap forward in integration, efficiency and performance. In addition, the update not only thinks about traditional performance, but also about greater advanced work capacity, including artificial intelligence directly on the device.

In this way, the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro They arrive powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, two variants designed to scale the performance of Apple Silicon in professional environments where CPU, GPU and memory bandwidth work simultaneously and sustainably. Both integrate a new CPU with up to 18 cores and twelve cores optimized for multi-threaded loads. Another of the most relevant changes is in the GPU. The M5 Pro scales up to 20 graphics cores, while the M5 Max can reach 40 cores, virtually doubling the graphics muscle.

The memory subsystem is another of the key pillars. The M5 Pro supports up to 64 GB of unified memory with a bandwidth of up to 307 GB/s, while the M5 Max doubles both capacity and bandwidth, reaching 128 GB and 614 GB/s. In architectures where CPU and GPU share the same memory pool, this increase is not simply theoretical: allows you to work with complex 3D scenes, 8K video projects with multiple ProRes streamsor language models with higher parameter counts without bandwidth becoming a bottleneck.

The new MacBook Pro and Air with M5 chip can now be reserved on the Apple website, with prices in Spain ranging from 1,199 euros for the Air model to 1,929 euros for the Pro version.

iPad Air con M4

Apple has also presented the iPad Air with M4, a new version of its lightweight tablet that debuts SoC to advance performance, adds more unified memory and updates its connectivity to the latest standards as main features. And it does so without increasing the base price of the previous version. Apple maintains the overall design with flat edges, aluminum chassis premium and the lightness that this series has been displaying, which is positioned halfway between the basic iPad and the high-end iPad Pro.

The series is marketed in two different screen sizes, 11 and 13 incheswith LCD panels, 2K resolution, compatibility with Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C), which reinforces its usefulness for drawing and taking notes, and True Tone technology, together with coverage of the P3 color space, guarantees accurate color reproduction in any lighting condition.

More news comes from its connectivity, an important section in any mobile device that depends on wireless networks. Here, Apple debuts its own N1 chip to add support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Models that support cellular mobile broadband will use Apple’s C1X modem for access to 5G networks.

The new iPad Air with M4 will be distributed in four color finishes (gray, blue, purple and star white) and will pre-install Apple’s latest tablet operating system, iPadOS 26. All versions can be reserved on the company’s web portal for availability on March 11 from 649 euros.

iPhone 17e

Apple is playing it safe with its new version of your ‘economical’ smartphone. In a clearly continuous approach, its design is practically identical to the previous version and does not show differences in construction quality, since it repeats the aluminum chassis and the glass finish both on the front and the rear.

The new model repeats the 6.1 inch screen Super Retina XDR OLED with 2,532 X 1,170 pixel resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate. It uses Ceramic Shield 2 as a protective layer on the screen, a minor improvement over the previous generation model, which used the first-generation Ceramic Shield. It also repeats the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

This new terminal mounts the Apple A19 SoC, a chip that is manufactured in TSMC’s 3nm node, and that has a six-core CPU (two high-performance and four high-efficiency), a quad-core Apple GPU and a more advanced NPU. Apple has also not changed the amount of RAM compared to the current generation, so the iPhone 17e repeats the 8 GB of the current model, but it has doubled the storage capacity of the base model, which goes from 128 GB to 256 GB. Available for reservations from today will be available on March 11 from 709 euros.

Macbook Neo, Apple’s budget laptop?

The week of presentations has not ended and the Cupertino firm has scheduled a evento especial «special Apple Experience» where another product of great interest among consumers could appear. Although it is quite unusual for Apple to leak product details before their presentation, it does happen from time to time. The regulatory PDF for the new MacBook laptops was published on Apple’s official website and included references although the file did not contain the product name, the link to the document indicated that Apple’s ‘A3404’ model was the MacBook Neo. Although Apple removed the file from its official website, several media outlets have published a replica of the document.

The leak points to the expected economical laptop from Apple that with a price between 599 and 699 dollars would be very attractive, which would add to the undoubted pull of the equipment with the bitten apple and with which Apple would take advantage of the disastrous situation of the Windows ecosystem to gain market share in the computer desktop. The use of the MacBook Air base is targeted, so a thin and light version is expected with its aluminum chassis, 13-inch screen and the A18 Pro SoC used by the iPhone 16 Pro and Max. It is not confirmed, but A “cheap Apple laptop” would be a hit for a consumer computing desktop penalized by the semiconductor crisis.
