Eufy has unveiled a new smart motion sensor that promises one of the longest battery lives in its category.

The new E20 Motion Sensor is designed to trigger other smart home devices and can reportedly run for up to five years on a single battery.

The E20 isn’t Eufy’s first motion detector, but it represents a refresh of one of its more straightforward smart home accessories and arrives at a time when brands like Aqara and Meross have been expanding their own sensor lineups. As a result, battery life and reliability are now key selling points.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the E20 offers a 90-degree field of view. It can detect motion from up to eight metres away when mounted at the recommended height of 1.8 to 2.3 metres. Additionally, it’s also capable of distinguishing animals weighing up to 36kg, which should help reduce false alerts triggered by pets.

Installation appears simple, with options to mount it on a wall or place it in a corner. Eufy claims an outdoor connection range of up to 200 metres. Therefore, users have flexibility when positioning it around larger homes or gardens.

Like many of Eufy’s accessories, the E20 requires a Eufy HomeBase for remote management through the Eufy app. That means it isn’t designed to work independently with third-party hubs. So, anyone heavily invested in another smart home ecosystem may want to check compatibility before buying.

The sensor is currently available in select European markets, including Germany, where it’s listed on Amazon for €39.99. While there’s no confirmed wider rollout date yet, it has already appeared on Eufy’s global website, suggesting broader availability may not be far off.

For users already in the Eufy ecosystem, the E20 looks like a practical upgrade — especially if five years of battery life means one less device to worry about maintaining.
