Europol has launched Operation Power OFF to reduce DDoS attacks. Authorities from 21 countries took part in the campaign, including the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) from Germany and the Swedish Cybercrime Center (SC3). As part of these actions, participating countries stopped illegal booter services and destroyed the technical infrastructure that enables illegal DDoS attacks.

In total, the police department sent emails and warning letters to 75,000 people who were suspected of having ordered and paid for DDoS attacks via various online services. As part of the operation, 53 domains were shut down and confiscated.

The order details obtained from the seized databases allowed investigators to identify the individuals in question. In total, three million criminal accounts were discovered, 25 search warrants were issued, and four people were arrested. (tf)
