On Monday, China’s GAC Group said its GOVY AirCab flying car has entered the airworthiness certification process, marking a key step toward commercialization, with mass production expected to begin in 2026. GOVY, GAC’s low-altitude mobility brand, is developing a product lineup covering short-range multirotor aircraft and intercity hybrid-wing aircraft as it seeks to build an integrated ecosystem spanning research, manufacturing and operations, the company said. The multirotor GOVY AirCab, designed for sightseeing and short-distance point-to-point travel, is GAC’s first mass-production-grade flying car. Prototype deliveries have been completed in Beijing and Hong Kong, according to the company.

GAC said its intercity model, the GOVY AirJet, rolled off the production line in late 2024 and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2028. The automaker is also exploring applications for flying cars in tourism, emergency rescue and logistics. It plans to launch pilot operations in two to three cities in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area by 2027, with the aim of establishing a “40-minute living circle” across the region.
