Google continues to infuse its AI Gemini at the heart of its services. After Gemini Live, it is the turn of electronic messaging to equip itself with a interface vocale. Baptized Gmail Livethis feature, announced last month, is starting to appear among some users on Android and iOS. The objective is simple: to allow you to dialogue with your inbox to find information without having to type or scroll through dozens of messages.
How does Gmail Live actually work?
Access to Gmail Live is directly from the search bar usual for the application. A news icône « Live » is integrated into it, right next to the button allowing access to the classic version of Gemini. By pressing it, the user is redirected to a full-screen interface, distinguished by a bright blue halo that borders the screen while the voice commands are transcribed in real time.
With @Gmail Live, you can talk to your inbox so you don’t have to dig through emails when you’re on the go. Say things like, “What’s my flight’s gate number?” or “What’s going on at my kid’s school?” and Gmail Live will search your inbox to find the answer instantly. pic.twitter.com/WJ5LkhlYGn

To guide the first steps, the interface offers suggested questions like “What are my next travel dates?” » or “Where are my last orders?” “. Once the question is asked, a short processing time is required before the answer is read aloud and displayed simultaneously on the screen. The user can also consult thee-mail source information, mute your microphone or leave the session at any time.
Who will be able to benefit from this new functionality and when?
Gmail Live will not be accessible to everyone, at least initially. Currently in the testing phase with a limited number of users, the functionality will be deployed during the summer. However, it will be reserved for subscribers Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra paid plans. This strategy confirms Google’s desire to monetize its most significant advances in AI.
This novelty is also accompanied by another paid feature for the same subscribers: automatic note-taking in Google Meet. The integration of theartificial intelligence in everyday tools therefore seems to become a selling point major for the premium offers of the Mountain View firm.

Is Gmail the only service affected by this voice AI integration?
No, Google has a much broader vision for its voice interactions based on Gemini. The tech giant plans to extend this type of functionality to other applications of its Workspace office suite. Two projects are already clearly identified: “ Docs Live » for Google Docs and similar integration into the Google Keep note-taking tool.
With Docs Live, the idea is to offer a real editorial partner virtual. The user will be able to dictate their ideas, ask the AI to organize the document or even search for relevant information in Drive or Gmail to enrich the text. For his part, Keep Live will facilitate the creation of lists and notes by transforming a simple vocal exchange into a structured memo.
