Instagram has added a new feature that many users have long requested. You can now rearrange photos or videos in a carousel after posting.
The update was confirmed by Instagram chief Adam Mosseri in a post, and the platform’s own Creators account explained how you could make any changes.
To rearrange photos in a carousel, tap the three-dot button to the right of the post, select Edit, and hold down the picture you want to move, then drag it to your desired location. Once satisfied with the order, tap Done at the top right to save changes.

The update was announced on Monday, so it may take a few days to roll out to users across all regions. We were able to test the feature right away and didn’t need to update the app. We could move all the photos and videos in a post and repeat the process multiple times. There doesn’t seem to be a time limit for the reorder, either.
Unfortunately, the feature only works with new carousels you upload. We tried changing the order for older carousel posts, but it did not work. On older posts, you can still only delete the photos or videos you have added.

Another much-requested feature is adding new photos to an existing carousel. That still remains unavailable, according to a post by the Creators account.
Instagram has added several new features lately, including the option to control your Reels algorithm. However, the biggest news around the platform in recent times is its decision to axe end-to-end encryption for DMs. The feature will not be supported after May 8, the company says on a support page.
