iX Workshop: Step by Step – VMware to Proxmox VE

Since Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware, many companies have been faced with rising costs and are looking for powerful alternatives. Proxmox VE has established itself as a stable and tried-and-tested virtualization solution.

In the Hands-on: Migration from VMware to Proxmox workshop, you will learn how to convert your existing VMware infrastructure to Proxmox VE in a structured manner and with as little effort as possible.

You will get an overview of the architecture of Proxmox VE and understand the differences to VMware vSphere. One focus is on planning the migration project: You will learn to recognize typical risks, develop suitable strategies and sensibly integrate storage backends such as ZFS, Ceph, iSCSI or NFS.

Practice-oriented learning in the laboratory

In the workshop, you will implement the migration yourself – step by step and in parallel with the trainer. You set up a Proxmox host, check source and target systems, create test environments and perform a complete migration from VMware ESXi to Proxmox VE. This way you gain security for your own migration projects.

Learn from practical experiences

You benefit from the experience of your trainer Frank Bartkewitz, certified Proxmox VE trainer at croit GmbH. He specializes in virtualization, system administration and network technology and provides practical approaches for successful migrations.

Who is this workshop suitable for?

The workshop is aimed at experienced IT administrators who are currently working with VMware and are planning or specifically preparing a switch to Proxmox VE.
