KIOXIA has announced the launch of the EXCERIA PRO G2, a new series of memory cards that will hit the market in two versions for the professional and consumer markets.
Last year, SD memory cards celebrated 25 years since the creation of a Secure Digital standard that continues to be very useful, if not essential, in world technology. There are hundreds of millions of devices that use them and not only for storage, since these cards can also be used to run operating systems and all types of applications from them.

KIOXIA has decided to divide the line into two options depending on video speed class, V90 and V60which is a handy way to cover both high-end capture requirements and more cost-sensitive builds without holding everyone to the same level. A good strategy taking into account the memory crisis that the industry is going through.
“With the launch of our EXCERIA PRO G2 SDXC UHS-II memory card series, both professional and hobby creators will be able to push the boundaries of their creativity.”says Paul Rowan, Vice President and Marketing Director of KIOXIA Europe. “Whether capturing high-speed sports action or creating high-resolution content, our new V90 and V60 cards deliver the speed, capacity and reliability today’s photographers and videographers demand.”.
At the top of the line is the EXCERIA PRO G2 V90, described as the choice for demanding 8K video recording and continuous shooting. The company promises maximum read speeds of up to 310 MB/s and maximum write speeds of up to 300 MB/s. While peak performance doesn’t fully represent sustained performance, the V90 rating is the key detail for video recorders: it’s designed for workloads where write speeds need to remain constant over long recordings rather than spikes and drops. The card will be available in storage capacities from 64 GB to 512 Gbytes.
Additionally, Kioxia offers the EXCERIA PRO G2 V60 for users looking for the benefits of UHS-II transfer, but don’t necessarily need sustained V90-class write performance. This model is rated for reads up to 300 MB/s and writes up to 250 MB/s, with storage capacities ranging from 128 GB to 512 GB. In practice, the V60 is ideal for a wide range of workloads for consumers and enthusiasts.
The EXCERIA PRO G2 will be available in the first quarter of 2026.
