Meituan has launched nighttime drone delivery, extending its drone operations from daytime into late-hour retail. The company said its drones have completed more than 600,000 orders since regular operations began in 2021, with an average delivery time of about 15 minutes—roughly twice as fast as traditional couriers.
The new service is being piloted in Shenzhen, where evening operations cover public parks such as Talent Park and Haifeng Sports Park. Customers can place orders through the Meituan and Meituan Takeaway apps and collect items from nearby drone drop-off lockers. [IThome, in Chinese]
