“Send Help” is definitely at the top of the list of the top new movies to stream this week. From “Evil Dead” and “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi, this dark thriller is one of the best movies I’ve seen so far this year. In fact, it’s the best thriller I’ve seen in 2026 so far, and that’s saying something given I’ve already watched 15 new releases since Jan. 1, 2026.

If you didn’t catch this movie in theaters, “Send Help” stars Rachel McAdams as Linda Liddle, a corporate strategist whose quirks don’t fit in with her company’s sexist culture. But that all changes when, on a work trip to Bangkok, the company’s private jet crashes, leaving Linda and her boss, Bradley (Dylan O’Brien), the sole survivors.

The twist? Linda actually auditioned to be on “Survivor” once upon a time, so she knows exactly how to handle being stranded on a desert island in the middle of the sea. Now, her boss, who was ready to pass her over for a promotion, desperately needs her to stay alive.

The real twist of ‘Send Help’ is that it’s as funny as it is scary

Watch On

From the synopsis, it’s easy to assume that “Send Help” is pretty bleak. And to be fair, it’s got dark moments. Multiple people die in this movie, and not just in the initial plane crash. There are some real jump scares too; one even gave me goosebumps.

But this is a Sam Raimi movie, and while he knows his way around some gory horror, he also knows his way around making a movie over-the-top and funny.

“Send Help” is no exception. Its blood, gore and body horror elements feel distinctly on brand for Raimi’s brand of visual styling. It’s also undeniably funny. While you can label this movie as a dark thriller, you can just as easily label it a horror comedy, and it’s probably the best horror comedy I’ve seen in years. The other people in the theater and I were laughing on multiple occasions, and I guarantee you’ll eke out at least a chuckle, no matter how scared the horror makes you.

Verdict: ‘Send Help’ is a must-stream right now

Hopefully, I’ve convinced you to give this movie a chance. I had a blast watching it. It’s surprisingly emotionally manipulative and climaxes with a major twist, which isn’t the only big shock you’ll get along the way. Plus, at an hour and 54 minutes, it’s not something you have to devote an entire day to.

Incredibly, despite premiering on January 30, you can still see “Send Help” in select theaters. But you don’t need to leave the comfort of your own home anymore. You can buy or rent “Send Help” digitally from premium video-on-demand streaming services like Amazon or Fandango at Home.

If you’re willing to be patient or just can’t swing an expensive movie night, you could wait for “Send Help” to hit one of the best streaming services and watch with a subscription. It will eventually arrive on Hulu and Disney+. But I’d say don’t wait; this was one of the best movies I’ve seen all year, and it’s a must-watch now that you can stream it.
