Report: Huawei Testing Ultra-Thin Smartphone Seen as Comparable to Apple’s iPhone Air · TechNode

A Chinese tech blogger has claimed that Huawei is testing an ultra-thin smartphone equipped with a new Kirin chip and eSIM support, with a version offering up to 2TB of storage. The device is being described as “fully comparable” in positioning, and has been seen by the market as aligned with Apple’s iPhone Air.

Huawei has already shown signs of eSIM adoption. Its SkyTone Go WeChat mini program—part of Huawei’s SkyTone service for purchasing and activating mobile data abroad—lists eSIM support under development and currently in beta, with a full rollout expected in the third quarter of 2025. Apple’s iPhone Air, launched in early September, has faced a delayed release in mainland China due to eSIM restrictions. [IThome, in Chinese]
