SFR is shaking up the fixed 5G market by launching a new Wi-Fi 7 compatible Box accompanied by a TV decoder. A complete “triple play” offer, without commitment and at lower prices to compete with fiber.
This is a sufficiently rare movement in the telecoms market to be highlighted. While inflation generally affects internet subscriptions, SFR creates a surprise this Tuesday July 7, 2026 by announcing a complete overhaul of its fixed 5G offers. The operator in the red square, bought by the trio Orange, Bouygues Telecom and Free, is not content with drastically lowering its prices: it is launching a brand new 5G Box equipped with Wi-Fi 7 and combining it with a TV decoder. A first on the market, which positions this subscription as a serious alternative for households deprived of optical fiber.
Rising speeds and the arrival of Wi-Fi 7
Intended primarily for homes suffering from a poor ADSL connection and not yet connected to fiber, these offers are being technically refined. SFR announces an increase in theoretical maximum flow rates, which now climb up to 1.5 Gbps download (compared to 1.1 Gbit/s previously) and 180 Mbit/s sending data. The modem relies on 8 5G antennas to optimize cellular reception.
The major novelty, however, is hidden on the local network side. For its high-end formula, SFR is introducing a brand new modem with a sleek tower-shaped design. Eco-designed (made from 90% recycled plastic), this device integrates the Wi-Fi 7 bi-band 4×4. This technology promises double performance compared to the previous generation, reduced latency and better management of simultaneously connected devices (up to 128 terminals supported). An eco mode is also integrated to optimize the device’s power consumption.
The only 5G “triple play” offer on the market
To drive home the point against the competition, SFR is making its premium formula the only triple play offer (Internet, TV, telephony) on the market via the mobile network. For €36.99 per month, no commitment (i.e. a reduction of €8 compared to the old price), the “5G Box with TV” subscription includes:
- Unlimited 4G/5G Internet access.
- A dedicated Connect TV decoder to watch more than 200 channels on your TV.
- 6 months of access included to a premium streaming service of your choice (Netflix, Disney+ or Prime Video).
- A Wi-Fi 7 repeater provided on request to extend coverage in larger homes.
- Unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles in France and the French Overseas Territories.
For tighter budgets or users who do not need a physical TV box, the basic plan also lowers its price, going from €39.99 to €32.99 per month (and even €28.99 for those under 26). Be careful, however: this light version retains the old modem limited to Wi-Fi 6 and skips the repeater.
How to benefit from it?
As with all fixed 5G offers on the market, access to these packages remains strictly regulated. SFR reserves these subscriptions for customers who do not have an optical fiber connection at their address, but who are located in an area covered by a mobile antenna with sufficient capacity. An eligibility test on the operator’s website is therefore essential before being able to subscribe.

On the logistics side, activation is immediate and does not require a technician: simply plug in the box for the services to work. The operator applies a €29 opening fee, but offers to cover the termination fees of your old operator up to €100.
