Robot vacuum cleaners have long struggled to answer a simple question from users: how can you tell the floor is actually clean when the robot has finished its work, rather than simply swept over it?

Shark’s answer is the PowerDetect UV Reveal, a robot vacuum and mop that pairs UV light detection with an RGB colour camera to locate messes such as dried liquids, sweat and pet accidents that are invisible under normal lighting conditions and usually missed by standard sensors.

UV detection and mopping system

At the centre of the UV Reveal’s cleaning process is UV Stain Detect, which exposes hidden residue on hard floors before the robot attempts to clean it, with visible light cues indicating each stage of the process so users can follow what the robot is doing in real time.

Once a stain is identified, HyperSonic Mopping engages a targeted scrubbing pattern that Shark claims boasts seven times the scrubbing power of traditional flat-pad mopping, with the robot performing a verification pass after cleaning to confirm the stain has been removed before continuing.

Supporting the detection and mopping system is an eight-sensor PowerDetect array that identifies edges, floor types, and obstacles in real time, while NeuroNav AI navigation uses on-device processing to guide the robot around furniture and low-lying objects in low-light conditions without relying on an external app connection.

Base station and allergen handling

The ThermaCharged NeverTouch Pro Base handles ongoing maintenance with a bagless design, TUV-certified sanitisation after every mop cycle, and an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal intended to contain allergens within the base rather than releasing them back into the room during emptying.

Shark also promises that the PowerDetect UV Reveal will see up to three hours of battery life which should cover most homes in a single session, before needing a top-up.

The PowerDetect UV Reveal joins a growing line-up of Shark vacuums and is available now at sharkclean.co.uk, priced at £1,099.99.
