Chinese gaming publisher Tencent has invested €1.16 billion in Ubisoft’s newly established subsidiary, acquiring a 25% stake, the French gaming giant announced today. The subsidiary will focus on the global development and operation of three major titles: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The new subsidiary is valued at €4 billion and integrates resources from six Ubisoft studios, including those in Montreal and Barcelona, while holding exclusive, permanent global rights to the three IPs. After the transaction, Ubisoft will retain control, but Tencent will have protective veto rights as a minority shareholder and approval rights for significant asset disposals, according to the announcement.
