Far from simply selling electric cars, Tesla continues to transform its customers’ experience by adding a dose of play and competition. The brand has formalized the launch of its “2026 Free Supercharging Competition”, a global challenge which involves a particularly coveted gain: free recharge for life on its network of Superchargeurs. Nine lucky winners, spread across three major regions of the globe, will see their charging performance for the year 2026 rewarded in the most beautiful way.
How to participate in this unique competition?
The competition mechanism is based on a functionality already known to users: the “Charging Passport”, accessible via the application Tesla. This tool, which works like a real digital travel diarysummarizes the annual recharge statistics. To be eligible, you should know that participation is not automatic, and some manipulations are necessary to enter the race.
Owners must explicitly enable the “Share charging data with the Tesla app” option in the parameters of their vehicle. In addition, it is imperative to open the “Charging Passport 2026” section in the application at least once before January 1, 2027. simple forgetting could disqualify you. Notable and crucial fact: the competition is retroactive and takes into account all sessions completed since the beginning of the year 2026.
What are the categories to hope to win?
To give different driver profiles a chance, Tesla has defined three winner profiles potential, with a category for each. The first, “Longest journey”, will reward the motorist having completed the longest uninterrupted series visits to stations Supercharge unique. The rule is simple: each new visit must take place within 24 hours of the start of the previous session.
The second category, “Most unique Supercharger sites visited,” is more direct and crowns the explorer who has plugged his or her car into the most different terminals during the year. Finally, the third category, “Greater quantity of energy recharged”, is aimed at the most large consumers by totaling the number of kilowatt hours (kWh) delivered. Who can really win and under what conditions?
If the competition is open to the majority of owners, restrictions importantes apply. Vehicles used for commercial purposes such as taxis, VTC or delivery services. Employees of the brand and their families cannot participate either, nor can cars already benefiting from free Supercharging, in particular first Model S and Model.
Furthermore, the “lifetime” reward must be well understood: it is strictly linked to the vehicle winner and to the account of the owner. It is neither transferable to another person nor to another vehicle in the event of sale or end of leasing. This advantage only concerns Supercharger stations operated by Teslaexcluding partner terminals. Certain countries are also excluded from the scope for regulatory reasons. The nine winners will be notified by email in January 2027.
