It’s hard to believe, but the Commodore Amiga is already 41 years old. The cult machine was presented on July 23, 1985 in New York at Lincoln Center with a star-studded cast.

Pop art artist Andy Warhol demonstrated the graphics capabilities of the Amiga by distorting a portrait of the singer Debbie Harry on the Amiga (and almost gave the Amiga developers heart attacks because the fill function in the graphics program, which he used excessively, tended to crash).
Although the Amiga had the potential of a high-end gaming machine at the time, Commodore preferred to show it as an alternative to the PC and Macintosh: not a single game was presented at the presentation.

The custom chips, which relieved the load on the Motorola 68000 main processor, which was already fast for the time, enabled a combination of graphics and sound that was previously not thought possible. The Amiga was so powerful that it brought the arcade home: countless bobs and sprites and colorful backgrounds with parallax scrolling were no problem from now on and in up to 4096 colors at the same time.
Even though the Amiga lost the battle for market share against the MS-DOS PC and the consoles after a decade, many game series that are still relevant today, such as Worms, the Settlers or Lemmings, began on the Amiga. And he is still very popular with fans today.
