The “Yellowstone” television universe is almost as vast and sweeping as the national park that shares its name, with prequel series like “1883” and “1923” Continuing the story of the Dutton family across generations. And that franchise will continue with the latest spinoff from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan: “The Madison,” an upcoming neo-Western drama set to hit Paramount+ this March.

Sheridan and Co. have roped together a pretty legendary cast for the new series, led by three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer and fellow film icon Kurt Russell (himself no stranger to the Western genre, with galloping, guns-slinging titles like “Tombstone,” “Bone Tomahawk” and “The Hateful Eight” populating his filmography). The actors will play the matriarch and patriarch of the Clyburn family, who have roots in rural Montana, though we don’t yet know their connection to the Dutton clan.

With “The Madison” set to arrive on the Paramount streaming service later this winter, here’s everything we know about the “Yellowstone” spinoff series.

What is ‘The Madison’ about?

Billed by Paramount+ as “a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation,” “The Madison” centers on the Clyburn family, originally from New York City, who relocate to the Madison River valley of southwest Montana to navigate life and loss after a shattering tragedy.

The six-episode first season will unfold across both rugged Montana and vibrant Manhattan, “as it examines the ties that bind families together” in what’s being called Taylor Sheridan’s “most intimate work to date.”

Will there be a season 2 of ‘The Madison’?

Already intrigued by the premise? Good news: Before the first season had even premiered, “The Madison” was renewed for a second season in August 2025. That early second-season pick-up should appease fans who might have been concerned about “The Madison’s” shorter episode count as compared to other Taylor Sheridan properties.

According to Deadline reporting, filming on the second installment is already complete, having taken place last fall at Sheridan’s production campus in Fort Worth. It has not been publicized when exactly season two is expected to drop.
