If you’ve ever wished your MacBook looked a little more like a classic Apple machine, dbrand might have the answer.

The accessory maker has launched a new “1984” skin collection. It brings back Apple’s iconic rainbow logo, giving modern MacBooks a nostalgic throwback look.

The skins are designed to work across a range of recent laptops, including the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and the newer MacBook Neo models. Each one is colour-matched to Apple’s current MacBook finishes. This allows the retro logo to blend neatly with the laptop’s design, rather than feeling like a simple sticker.

The star of the show is the classic six-colour Apple logo, recreated with a raised, 3D-printed effect that mimics the look of Apple’s early computers. According to dbrand, the idea is to make modern MacBooks appear as if they could have rolled out of Apple’s lineup in the mid-1980s. This approach is a nod to the company’s famous “1984” advertising campaign that helped define its early identity.

Despite the vintage inspiration, the skins themselves are very much a modern accessory. They’re precision-cut for each MacBook model and designed to sit flush against the laptop’s lid without adding bulk. This lets users customise the look of their device without permanent modifications.

The 1984 skin costs $31.95, regardless of which MacBook model you choose. Buyers simply need to select their device, size and colour before ordering.

There is one small catch. dbrand says it managed to match eight modern MacBook colourways, but the Sky Blue MacBook Air is the lone exception. This means owners of that model won’t be able to get the full retro treatment.

Still, for anyone nostalgic for Apple’s earlier design era, the skins offer a simple way to give a brand-new MacBook a distinctly old-school personality.
