Qobuz has declared its firm opposition to AI-generated music, positioning itself as a haven for human artistry amid growing industry concerns.

The company has announced the immediate implementation of a proprietary detection system designed to identify and tag tracks created entirely by artificial intelligence across its entire catalogue of new releases and existing content.

This significant move follows the publication of the company’s AI Charter and is a direct response to the increasing apprehension that the proliferation of AI-generated content poses a material threat to the livelihoods of human artists.

By deploying this detection system, Qobuz aims to provide its listeners with concrete assurance that human creativity remains the foundational element of its platform.

Beyond technical detection, Qobuz is deliberately reinforcing its human-first ethos. All editorial recommendations (including curated playlists, Albums of the Week selections, and its signature Qobuzissimes reviews) are exclusively handled by human curators, explicitly eschewing algorithmic control.

Furthermore, the platform maintains strict protocols to protect artists: fraudulent streams are systematically excluded from royalty reports, and any AI-generated tracks, once positively identified, will be immediately removed from the catalogue.

In a market where major competitors such as Spotify and Apple Music are actively exploring and integrating various AI tools, Qobuz is deliberately carving out a differentiated niche. The company is positioning itself as a place for music created by people, betting that its commitment to editorial transparency and human oversight will strongly resonate with a user base that prioritises authenticity and genuine artistic expression.

This stance reflects a philosophical commitment to quality over quantity, differentiating its service in an increasingly crowded streaming landscape.
