The social network TikTok has officially taken up arms against the proliferation of low-quality, automaton-generated content. In a recent press release, the platform detailed its plan to improve its detection mechanisms in the coming weeks. The goal is to specifically target accounts that are solely dedicated to posting what is now known as AI spam or AI slop. This initiative is part of a global context where many platforms are struggling to preserve authenticity and the quality of information.

Why is TikTok specifically targeting certain AI content?

Far from declaring war on any form ofartificial intelligencethe platform focuses on the most problematic deviations. The company has been very clear: priority is given to subjects deemed to be at high riskthose who can directly influence the decisions and well-being of millions of people. What is the phenomenon of “AI slop” that the platform wants to stem?

It’s a race to the click that sacrifices quality, relevance and originality.

To identify these accounts spam IAthe platform will be based on several criteria. Accounts revealing a “ concentration » sensitive subjects, those producing AI content « low quality “, and those who engage in practices likebuying or selling subscribers. Beyond easy hearing, these tools can also be used for disinformation or to much more organized militant objectives.

What are the concrete measures and the broader context of this fight?

For the moment, the Chinese group remains relatively discreet on technical details which will allow this improved detection. The press release simply mentions that “ improvements to detection systems » will be tested « in the coming weeks “. This progressive approach suggests a desire to adjust algorithms to avoid penalize legitimate creators who would use AI in creative ways.

This initiative is part of an underlying trend among web giants. This is not the first action of TikTok, which had already established in 2024 a automatic reporting AI content. Others social networkslike Pinterest in October 2025, have also implemented tools to allow users to filter these creations.
