We’ve been waiting for years, the Tesla Roadster will arrive in April?!

In a tweet as brief as it is effective, Elon Musk relaunched one of the automobile industry’s most fantasy projects: the Tesla Roadster, which promises (once again) something spectacular.

New Roadster unveil hopefully next month.

It will be a banger next-level. https://t.co/sO0iB63l07

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 17, 2026

The Tesla Roadster is not a model like any other. Presented with great fanfare in 2017, it was to embody the absolute future of the electric car: incredible performance, record autonomy and new technologies. On paper, the promises were dizzying. Tesla then mentioned a 0 to 100 km/h in less than two seconds, a maximum speed exceeding 400 km/h and up to 1000 kilometers of autonomy. Figures that are still difficult to achieve today, even for the most advanced manufacturers.

But since this announcement, there has been almost radio silence. The Roadster has been pushed back several times, to the point of becoming a meme in the Tesla community. Industrial priorities, rise of Model 3 and Model Y, then shift towards AI and robotaxi: the project seemed relegated to the background.

Elon Musk puts a coin back into the machine

And as is often the case, every word counts. THE “hopefully next month” of his message on X, suggests that a presentation event is close, without guaranteeing a firm schedule. A classic at Tesla.

But it is above all the “next-level” that attracts our attention. Because the Roadster was never designed as a simple high-performance electric car. It had to push the very limits of what a car can do.

At the heart of fantasies, the famous SpaceX pack. Musk has already mentioned the integration of thrusters inspired by SpaceX, capable of drastically improving acceleration, braking, and even handling. An idea halfway between science fiction and technological demonstration, which could transform the Roadster into a real UFO on wheels.

Tesla needs to dream again

This return of the Roadster is probably not trivial. In recent months, Tesla has stood out more on industrial and software subjects than on spectacular product announcements. Between advances in autonomous driving, projects around AI and even range optimizations, the brand has left aside its image as a flamboyant pioneer. However, the Roadster plays a very specific role, that of a showcase product. A model that does not aim for volumes, but for imagination. The one that gets people talking, that makes people dream, and that reminds us that Tesla doesn’t just follow the market. As competition for electric cars intensifies, this type of announcement also allows us to regain control.

A central question remains: what will we really see next month? A version close to production, or a new concept still far from the road?

With Elon Musk, history has shown that you have to know how to read between the lines. The Roadster exists, that’s for sure. But its final characteristics, its Price and especially its marketing date remain major unknowns.

One thing is certain, if Tesla manages to keep even part of its initial promises, the Roadster could once again redefine the standards of electric performance.
