What data was stolen?
Once in the system, the attacker was able steal personal data. Among the information compromised are the first name, last name, full postal address, email address, telephone number and date of birth. On the other hand, banking data such as card number or secret code, as well as customer account passwords, were not affected.
The operator specifies that its technical teams detected the incident, immediately deactivated the compromised account causing the intrusion and reinforced access to its systems. This new leak weighs serious threats to subscribers Bouygues. With the hacked data, it is possible to design a credible scam, with a fake technician or a fake Bouygues Telecom advisor. In the event of a suspicious call, hang up and call back directly via the official Bouygues Telecom number.
“We recommend that you be vigilant: you may notice abnormal use of this data or receive fraudulent calls, SMS or emails”explains Bouygues.
The operator indicates that it has notified the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés), the French authority responsible for the protection of personal data, and has filed a complaint with the competent authorities. As a reminder, this is not the first time that Bouygues Telecom has been the victim of a cyberattack. Last summer, a hacker managed to collect the personal data of 6.4 million customer accounts, including IBAN or civil status data.
