MacBooks are great. They are light and compact, have a sleek design, have enough power to run essential software and can last a whole day without running out of batteries. With the M4 chips, the performance difference between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro is smaller than ever, which is why we believe that purchasing a MacBook Air is a better deal than a Pro model. The only thing you’d want to buy a Pro for is how long the battery lasts, but even then, many laptops from other brands can beat it.

The M4 MacBook Pro improves on the M3’s advertised battery life of 13 to 18 hours, with Apple claiming the M4 Pro will last between 14 hours and 22 hours. The M5 chips make this even better, with the upper limit now being up to 24 hours, a true full battery day that can be extended to several days with practical use.

In real-world testing, this number fluctuates widely, with battery life lasting between 18 and 23 hours depending on your specific usage and which chip is in the device. An M3 MacBook Pro lasts 22 hours in certain video playback tests, and an M4 Max MacBook Air lasts 18 hours when you’re browsing different programs. The battery life of models with M4 and M5 chips is comparable. We’ve rounded up some Windows laptops with the best battery life that outperform both MacBook Pro lines in terms of battery life.

1. Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition 14-inch

Lenovo’s Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition is part of a line of computers with Intel’s Lunar Lake processors, which tend to be found in the best laptops in terms of battery life. The 14-inch Slim 7i lasts 26 hours in video playback tests and manages to last 18 hours in practice thanks to the 70 watt-hour battery. Plus, the laptop barely gets hot even when unplugged and left on for hours, and it still has very quiet fans. The heat dissipation is so excellent that it often remains slightly cooler than the MacBook Air.

However, both the long battery life and the ability to dissipate heat have some drawbacks. The OLED screen is good for battery life, but the low resolution of 1,920 pixels by 1,200 pixels with a 60 hertz refresh rate could be a deal breaker for many. In addition, both battery and thermal management are possible, partly due to lower power consumption, something that affects performance. It won’t be as fast as laptops like the OmniBook Ultra 3, despite having the same chipset. Linux users should also note that the Slim 7i operating system support isn’t the best. Still, the Lenovo Slim 7i 14-inch, for $899 on Amazon, is an excellent laptop for light home and office use.

2. Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3X 15-inch

The 15-inch IdeaPad Slim 3X is one of several AI-focused laptops that Lenovo launched in 2025. Battery-wise, the Slim 3X will last around 30 hours when running non-stop video. This means you can use Microsoft Word for up to 25 hours, browsing and performing various low-performance tasks. This is partly thanks to the low-profile 1,920-by-1,200-pixel IPS display with a 60 hertz refresh rate and some other things Lenovo has cut corners, all to provide a great budget-friendly laptop with long battery life.

Some of these cuts include an impressive but still perfectly usable mechanical touchpad, a 720-pixel resolution webcam, and speakers with poor sound quality. The low-resolution display is also slightly worse visually than comparable displays on other 14-inch laptops, as the IdeaPad Slim 3X’s larger screen means less pixel coverage overall.

The Slim 3X comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X chipset, weighs 3.5 pounds and is a Microsoft Copilot+ PC that can process AI requests locally. The laptop is not designed for heavy workloads, but, like many other budget laptops, it is ideal for light home and work use. Despite all this, however, the Slim 3X is one of the cheapest laptops you can get with this good battery life, as it retails for $512 on Amazon.

3. HP OmniBook

The HP OmniBook As for the battery, it lasts 30 hours in certain tests, but in real-world use it should average between 22 and 24 hours. The laptop uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon However, in tests measuring GPU performance, it performed twice as well as the last-generation Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1, the next entry on this list.

The OmniBook The laptop’s camera also beats much more expensive models, offering great images for its price.

There are a few reasons why you might not want an OmniBook X. Firstly, while the resolution is bright, it relies on an IPS panel rather than an OLED screen, meaning it won’t look as good as OLED laptops. Furthermore, even though it weighs just under three pounds, it is not among the laptops that are lighter than the MacBook Air. However, you can still find the laptop for as little as $750 on eBay, making it a good budget laptop with long battery life.

4. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Aura Edition

Another entry from Lenovo, BGR’s top pick among all the major PC brands, the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Aura Edition is the only 2-in-1 convertible on our list. Released in 2025, the ThinkPad It has the same Intel Lunar Lake chipset that gives many of its peers on this list their long battery life.

As for the things it lacks, the most important is the laptop’s display. It has a skinny 1,920 by 1080 pixel IPS display with a 60 hertz refresh rate to extend battery life, like many others on this list. However, those who want something better can get a version with a 120 hertz refresh rate and a 2.8K OLED panel, although it may have shorter battery life.

Another drawback is performance. It’ll be good enough for the usual light workloads, but like many other devices on this list it’s not the best for anything that requires more processing power. The X1 2-in-1 isn’t cheap, however, as the IPS variant costs $2,199 on Amazon. It’s also somewhat heavy for a 2-in-1 convertible, weighing in at 3 pounds, though it’s still light enough to be portable.

5. Panasonic Toughbook 40 Mk2

Placing the Panasonic Toughbook 40 Mk2, a rugged laptop, on a list of laptops with the best battery life may be cheating, but since it has an absurd 40+ hour battery life, it deserves a spot on this list. Rugged laptops tend to last a long time and are built for the express purpose of working long hours in hazardous environments where a normal laptop simply won’t cut it. But even by rugged laptop standards, the Toughbook 40 Mk2’s 40 hours is simply unheard of.

However, the long battery life isn’t the only notable feature of this laptop; The other thing that rugged laptops are known for is that they are very durable. The Mk2 in particular is virtually indestructible. Whether you throw it out the window or point a high-pressure water jet at it, the laptop won’t budge. However, this means that the laptop is extremely heavy and weighs more than 7 kilos.

Other than these two factors, the rest of the laptop is fairly standard. It has a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels on an IPS panel with a refresh rate of 60 hertz. However, this is a touch panel, and it functions even with gloves on or with the screen completely wet. It has many more features, such as a barcode scanner and even a DVD player. But at a price of $4,999 on Amazon, this is definitely not for most people.

How we selected these laptops with longer battery life than the MacBook Pro

The latest MacBook Pro with Apple M4 Max and M5 series chips has been out for a while now, giving us and other independent reviewers ample time to quantify how long the battery lasts. However, this number varies and different tasks can lead to different results.

The MacBook Pro is generally better optimized than any laptop running Windows. While these laptops have some of the best battery life and can last longer than the Pro under normal workloads, the difference is much smaller when we talk about running graphics-intensive games or programs that require a lot of processing power.

Furthermore, the same model of laptop may have batteries with different lifespans depending on the size. A small screen uses less power, and if a 14-inch laptop has the same battery size as the 15-inch variant, the 14-inch laptop will last significantly longer. This is best seen in the 14-inch and 15-inch variants of the Slim 7i, with the 15-inch version not lasting nearly as long as a MacBook Pro.
