WeChat announced that its mini program games have surpassed 500 million monthly active users, with average user time online up 10% from last year. Over 80% of users launch games via features like pull-down menus, social sharing, or search. A total of 45% of users are aged between 24 and 40. On average, each user plays six different mini games per month. Tencent also claimed that more than 400,000 developers now work in the ecosystem, 80% in teams of fewer than 30 people. Nearly 70 games have accrued more than 1 million daily active users, and over 300 titles saw quarterly revenue top RMB 10 million ($1.39 million). PC is emerging as a new growth engine, with the mini game desktop user base growing over 55% year-on-year. Meanwhile, 200 million users now watch in-game ads, with strong engagement from male users in simulation, strategy, and action genres. [iThome, in Chinese]
