Waymo is now offering fully autonomous, driverless taxi rides in Nashville.

We knew this was coming. The company’s robotaxis were spotted driving around without a human safety driver in Nashville back in February, but the service wasn’t open to the public yet.

Starting now, however, Waymo users will be getting invites for fully driverless rides in Nashville. Initially, the service will cover a 60-square-mile area (see map below), and Waymo says it’s also planning to include the Nashville International Airport in the “near future.”

If you haven’t received your invite, it should be coming soon. Waymo says the gradual rollout enables it to “thoughtfully scale while delivering a consistent, high-quality experience.”

The service will initially be offered through Waymo app, but the company says it will also start serving some rides through project partner Lyft’s app “later this year.”

Waymo has been aggressively expanding in recent months, likely due to its chief competitor, Tesla, doing the same with its Robotaxi service. Most recently, Waymo has expanded its test vehicles in Chicago, Illinois, and Charlotte. The company’s expansion follows a $16 billion financing round in February, with Waymo promising to expand to over 20 more cities in 2026.
