The telecommunications operator of the Basque Country Euskaltel has announced the appointment of Jasone Altuna Palacios as its new General Director. Altuna will also join the company as responsible for MasOrange in Euskadi and Navarra. He will assume both positions starting June 1.
He will replace Jon Ander de las Fuentes, whom the Board of Directors of Euskaltel has thanked for his work at the head of the Company, at a stage in which Euskaltel has managed to integrate Euskaltel first into the MasMovil Group and then into MasOrange, as well as the modernization of the old cable to fiber network, or the development of the 5G network in Euskadi.
Jasone Altuna has extensive knowledge of the Basque ecosystem. She has a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Commercial University of Deusto. He has developed practically his entire career in Euskadi, in companies such as Accenture, PwC, Ibermática or Ayesa.
Altuna has more than a quarter of a century of experience in consulting, technology and market management, and will provide the operator with extensive knowledge in digital transformation, large account management and multi-sector business development, which he will use to drive the growth of Euskaltel and MasOrange in Euskadi and Navarra.
The director has gained experience in the telecommunications sector thanks to her time at Accenture, where she participated in consulting projects on models for telecoms. It has also had a relationship with Orange previously, as a relevant client of the company. Among his main objectives, now at the head of Euskaltel and MasOrange in Euskadi, will be the development of solutions for Public Administrations and companies in the region.
The appointment of Jasone Altuna reinforces the MasOrange Group’s commitment to Euskadi, where until now it has made an investment of around 4.9 billion euros for the development of its telecommunications networks and services, as well as in technological innovation and training. In addition, MasOrange and Euskaltel, which have about two million lines in the region, are currently developing an additional three-year investment plan of 200 million.
