According to a report by the analysis company Appfigures, the number of new apps in the Apple App Store and Google Play has increased significantly. In the first quarter of this year, growth compared to the same period last year was a total of 60 percent, and in the App Store it was as much as 80 percent.
Experts largely attribute the increase to new AI tools like Claude Code and Replit, which make app development easier than ever before. As TechCrunch reports, the five most popular categories for new releases are:
- games,
- Utilities,
- Lifestyle,
- Productivity as well
- Health and fitness.
While places two through five have changed every year since 2024, games over the same period are the undisputed front runners. (tf)
