Denmark becomes the fourth European country to authorize Tesla autonomous driving, after the Netherlands, Lithuania and Estonia. It seems that we are dealing with a domino effect in Europe.
Denmark becomes the fourth European country to officially authorize Tesla autonomous driving on its roads. In the space of three months, four European countries have now given their green light to the FSD. If the European Commission has yet to approve the system, it seems that we are dealing with a real domino effect, which however is unlikely to affect France.
A fourth European country authorizes FSD
After the Netherlands, Lithuania and Estonia, it is now the turn of Denmark to approve Tesla’s autonomous driving. The announcement was made on X by the car manufacturer’s official account and proudly shared by Elon Musk himself. However, this announcement post specifies that “ deployment will begin soon », without giving a precise date.

As a reminder, Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania based their green light on the authorization granted by the Dutch transport authority (RDW). It is a question oftemporary authorizationsgiven that the European Commission has not yet approved the FSD. As the Danish authorities rightly point out: “ if the European Commission rejects the system, the Dutch provisional approval will lapse after six months “. And by extension, all European authorizations will become obsolete. We will therefore have to wait for the next meetings of the European technical committee scheduled for July, then October, for official confirmation. Incidentally, remember that FSD is only supported by the brand’s vehicles with Hardware 4 and that this device requires continuous attention from the driver.
Towards a snowball effect?
Even though the European Commission has yet to approve the FSD, it still appears that we are seeing a snowball effect that could impact the final EU decision. In the space of just three months, no less than four European countries have authorized FSD on their territory, and the domino effect is unlikely to stop here. If several Nordic regulators have expressed serious doubts about the reliability of FSD, other European countries are closely studying its authorization. This is particularly the case of Belgiumwhere various tests have been carried out on the roads in recent months. On the other hand, we still have no sign of a deployment of the FDS in France, despite the fact that tests were carried out last December in Paris. It seems that France will align itself with the European decision.
In any case, the car manufacturer is lobbying hard to deploy FSD in Europe. Tesla’s autonomous driving is already authorized in North America, Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea; Tesla is now aiming for a conquest of the Old Continentin particular to reap profits, face Chinese competition and, who knows, one day be able to deploy its Cybercabs there, i.e. Tesla’s autonomous taxis, large-scale production of which recently began.
