A persistent, but cautious, rumor claims that Apple could integrate a new health sensor directly into the silicone strap of the future Apple Watch Series 12.
Since the launch of the very first generation in 2015, Apple’s philosophy regarding its connected watch has never changed: all the measurement tools (heart rate, ECG, blood oxygen level) are housed under the metal case, in direct contact with the top of the wrist. But as autumn approaches, an indiscretion shakes up this certainty. According to leaker Kosutami, the future Apple Watch Series 12 could move some of its measurement tools by integrating a new health sensor directly molded inside its silicone bracelet.
(Censo-Wat)ch Series 12 gonna have a sensor on band, injection molded(to the silicon band, they hasn’t yet figured out how to putting a sensor on band with other materials now.).

The silicone Sport bracelet as a technical guinea pig
The information, identified by AppleInsiderhowever, has two major gray areas. On the one hand, the informant gives no details on what this new electronic component would actually be responsible for measuring. On the other hand, this novelty would be exclusively reserved for the cheapest model in the range, the Sport Band in fluoroelastomer.
This choice would not be commercial, but purely technical: Cupertino engineers have not yet found a way to properly inject and mold electronic components into more complex materials such as fabric, leather or metal. On paper, the idea of deporting components in the bracelet would free up valuable space inside the case (to accommodate a larger battery, for example) while offering a different biological measurement angle.
An old sea serpent lying around in boxes
Although the prospect of a “smart” bracelet is attractive, caution is still required. Apple has in fact filed waves of patents on this technology since 2017. The documents describe modules capable of measuring blood pressure (not to be confused with the hypertension alert function which does exist), the level of hydration via sweat, or even muscular activity. However, none of these projects ever progressed beyond the research laboratory stage. In addition, the leaker Kosutami has a mixed history, having notably made a mistake in 2023 by announcing a radical change to the bracelet attachment system which never saw the light of day.
One clue still leaves doubt: other industry sources claim that a revised connector and a new magnetic attachment system are in the pipeline for future ranges. Such a structural change would be essential to allow the bracelet to power itself and transfer its health data directly to the watch case.
A Series 12 which promises to be very wise in any case
If this connected bracelet were to be confirmed, it would be the only real surprise of the fall for Apple’s connected watch. Indeed, according to information from Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 12 should be content with a very timid update, carried by a new exclusive dial and some performance optimizations. Likewise, the future watchOS 27 system should primarily prioritize system stability rather than revolutionary features.
It must be said that at the start of the school year, all the spotlights of the Apple firm will be focused on the iPhone 18 range, and especially on the very first folding iPhone model in the brand’s history. The Apple Watch will wait its turn, probably until the big glass redesign mentioned for 2028.
