Four major AI assistants, four Canva integrations in five months. At this rate, the Australian platform will soon be integrated into your fridge.

A year ago, Canva was a design app. Today, it is a universal plug-in that every AI giant is rushing to welcome. The announcement made during Google I/O 2026 drives home the point: Canva becomes a “Connected App” in Gemini. Users can generate and edit visuals without leaving the wizard interface, import their brand kits, and transform images generated by Google’s Nano Banana template into editable designs using Magic Layers. With Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and now Gemini, Canva ticks the four market squares. Grand slam, match point, curtain.

Being everywhere at once, the new Canva strategy

The sequence was express. Claude from Anthropic in January 2026, ChatGPT and Copilot in succession, Gemini in May. Five months to move into all the salons without paying the rent. The official press release does not shy away from modesty: “the Canva Design Engine now allows creation in every major AI assistant”. No matter which chatbot you use, Canva wants to be the reflex when you type “create me a visual”. This is called a platform strategy. Or a very sophisticated form of subletting.

Adobe, visibly piqued, announced at the same Google I/O a similar connector for Gemini. The war to become the default studio for AI assistants is officially on, and the two rivals found themselves presenting their integration on the same day, on the same stage, in front of the same audience. Difficult to do more frontal.

Canva is getting a head start. The platform claims 265 million monthly users31 million paying subscribers and $4 billion in revenue in 2025. The repositioning announced in April with Canva 2.0 takes on its full meaning: the company no longer presents itself as “a design platform with AI” but as “an AI platform with design tools”. In other words, the design has become the functionality, not the product. The shareholders will appreciate it, the designers a little less.

Your logos and graphic charters in Google’s pipeline

Integration is not limited to image generation. Canva also connects brand kits (logos, fonts, colors, graphic charters) directly into Gemini. When you ask the assistant to create a visual for your box, it will draw from your Canva resources to produce a result in the colors of your brand. Practical. It is also your brand assets that pass through the servers of a platform classified as a “very large platform” within the meaning of the European DSA.

For the 9,300 French companies who use Canva on a daily basis, the question is simple: where do your graphic charters end up when they circulate between Canva and Gemini, and what are they used for once they arrive? Canva promises not to share anything without consent. Google too, by the way. We’ve heard that before somewhere.

The rollout is limited to English-speaking markets for now. To try the Canva chatbot experience, you will have to check out ChatGPT or Claude.
