After a testing phase with hundreds of organizations, Anthropic opens access to its new cyber defense tool, Claude Security. Powered by model Opus 4.7this tool no longer just assists developers but is integrated as a strategic brick into their daily operations. The objective is clear: to move from general AI to a business solution capable of being integrated into critical processes. The company is betting on the industrialization of its model to respond to an urgent need in the market, faced with an explosion in the volume of code to secure and a shortage of experts.

How does Claude Security differ from traditional tools?

Where traditional SAST (Static Application Security Testing) type solutions are mainly based on the detection of code patterns known to be vulnerable, Claude Security adopts a radically different approach. The tool simulates the reasoning of a human security researcher by carrying out a semantic analysis of the code. It doesn’t just look for errors, it strives to understand the business logic, the interactions between different files and modules, and the data flow within the application. This contextual analysis capability allows it to detect complex and discrete vulnerabilities, often invisible to traditional automated scanners.

This method allows you to go well beyond simple pattern recognition. By capturing how the code works overall, the tool can identify logical flaws that only appear when multiple components interact. The domain of cybersecurity is thus evolving towards proactive defense, where AI is no longer used only to react but to anticipate points of weakness. The result is deeper, more relevant security coverage that can scale across software architectures ever more complex.

What are the concrete features for developers?

Far from being a simple black box, Claude Security was designed to integrate seamlessly into the workflows of security and development teams. Each vulnerability detected is subject to a “ pipeline de validation in several stages” which verifies the result before presenting it to an analyst. Each report is then enriched with crucial information: a confidence level, an assessment of the severity, a description of the probable impact, the steps to reproduce the flaw, and above all, a proposal for directly applicable patch. This approach makes alerts immediately actionable.

The toolartificial intelligence also offers features designed for operational efficiency. Developers can open the affected code directly in the Claude Code interface to review and apply changes in context. The public beta introduces scheduled scans for continuous monitoring, the ability to target specific directories, and export options in CSV ou Markdown. Integrations via webhooks with tools like Slack or Jira are also planned, facilitating monitoring and collaboration between teams.

What is Anthropic’s strategy to address security risks?

The development of such a powerful tool is a double-edged swordas it could also be used by malicious actors to discover vulnerabilities more quickly. Aware of this risk, Anthropic has implemented a robust security strategy. The Opus 4.7 model which powers Claude Security integrates strict safeguards, from the Project Glasswingto automatically detect and block requests suggesting malicious use, such as the development of ransomware or mass data exfiltration.

This initiative is part of a more global approach. Anthropic has developed another model, Mythosconsidered so powerful that it is not made public and is only accessible to selected partners. For legitimate but sensitive uses, the company has created a verification program for authorized cybersecurity researchers. Rather than competing head-on with established players, Anthropic is banking on a partner ecosystem such as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks or Microsoft Security, which integrate its technologies. The objective is to superimpose its AI on existing tools to establish itself as a layer of intelligence unavoidable.
