Deadline reports that Apple won’t be renewing critically acclaimed comedy Palm Royale for a third season. Here are the details.

That’s it for Palm Royale

Palm Royale never broke out into the mainstream as other Apple TV comedies, such as Ted Lasso or, more recently, The Studio. The series has an average rating of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.8/10 on IMDb.

Yet it landed 11 Emmy nominations for its first season (including Outstanding Comedy Series), taking home the trophy for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.

Cast-wise, Palm Royale had a star-studded ensemble, including Kristen Wiig (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Ricky Martin (American Crime Story), Laura Dern (Twin Peaks: The Return), Allison Janney (The West Wing), and Carol Burnett (Better Call Saul).

It tells, or told, the story of Maxine Simmons (Wiig), “as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society,” per Apple TV’s synopsis.

Last January, the show concluded its second season, leaving its central storyline unresolved. And according to Deadline’s exclusive report, that’s all that Palm Royale fans will get:

The Apple TV series Palm Royale has taken its final bow. The Emmy-nominated dramedy was canceled at the streamer after two seasons.

Based on Julie McDaniel’s 2018 novel “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie,” the show premiered on Apple TV on March 20, 2024, and ran for 20 episodes.

When contacted by Deadline, Apple declined to comment on the show’s cancellation.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like F1 The Movie, Pluribus, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
