For those that happen to have the Logitech MX Master 4 wireless mouse or are considering this high-end ~$120 USD Bluetooth mouse, better support for it was merged yesterday to Linux 7.0.

With this week’s HID subsystem fixes merged for Linux 7.0, there is better support for the Logitech MX Master 4 connected via Bluetooth. In particular, enabling Logitech’s HID++ functionality for the mouse. This allows for non-standard HID features to be enabled like high resolution scrolling under Linux. High resolution scrolling works beautifully with the modern Linux desktop stack and now the MX Master 4 has joined the party. It is important to note though that is only enabled when the mouse is connected via Bluetooth and if not going through the Logitech Bolt receiver since that interface still lacks a Linux driver.

The Logitech MX Master 4 is an 8-button mouse with a 200 – 8000 DPI sensor, reported 70 day battery life, and retails for around $120 USD.

The HID++ support for the Logitech MX Master 4 via Bluetooth was just needing new device IDs added and thus was safe for merging to the current kernel cycle. This HID fixes merge landed that support into Linux 7.0 ahead of next weekend’s Linux 7.0-rc5 release.
