Based on a Microsoft Research study analyzing over 200,000 real-world AI interactions, cognitive and language-heavy professions (like translators, authors, and data scientists) face the highest disruption from generative AI. Conversely, jobs requiring physical labor, manual dexterity, or localized human care (such as dredge operators, nursing assistants, and roofers) are the most secure, registering near-zero AI applicability scores. The researchers emphasize that high AI applicability signals significant workflow transformation and augmentation, rather than guaranteed job elimination.
