If you were thinking of picking up a Samsung smartphone but were worried about how it might integrate with your personal Apple ecosystem, things may have just gotten a bit easier. Samsung is now introducing an update to Quick Share in its Galaxy S26 series that adds AirDrop interoperability, enabling easier wireless file sharing across Samsung and Apple devices in the vicinity.

The update will begin rolling out on March 23 starting in Korea and will become available in the US later that week. AirDrop support will initially only be available on the Galaxy S26 series, but Samsung plans to expand the feature to additional Galaxy devices at a later date.

Samsung says the update is part of its ongoing efforts to improve compatibility across operating systems. To enable the feature, head to Settings, then Connected Devices, then tap Quick Share before selecting Share with Apple Devices.

This isn’t the first time Android has opened up to AirDrop-compatible sharing. In November 2025, Google first added interoperability between Android’s Quick Share feature and Apple’s AirDrop to enable file transfers between the two mobile operating systems for the first time, though it was initially restricted to Pixel 10 phones.

Eric Kay, Google’s VP of Android engineering, told Android Authority at the time that Google was going to expand integration to more devices in 2026, though he didn’t mention any devices by name. Android Authority pointed to social media posts from Nothing and Qualcomm that expressed enthusiasm for adding AirDrop interoperability to their devices.

Kay also pointed out how Google is doubling down on making it easier for iPhone users to switch to Android and “make sure they’ve got everything they had from their old phone.”
