On Monday, the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) updated the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), adding 140 Chinese semiconductor-related companies to the Entity List. The Chinese semiconductor equipment industry is most affected by the sanctions, as several leading manufacturers are now barred from purchasing US-made components. New controls will be imposed on semiconductor manufacturing equipment essential for producing advanced-node integrated circuits, including tools for etching, deposition, lithography, ion implantation, annealing, metrology, inspection, and cleaning. Sanctioned semiconductor equipment makers include NAURA Technology, Piotech, ACM Research, PNC Process Systems, Skyverse Technology, KINGSTONE, Beijing Huafeng Test and Control Technology, Beijing Semicore Microelectronics Equipment, Hwatsing Technology, KINGSEMI, and others.
