Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO has confirmed organizational changes to its autonomous driving division following the recent departures of Bai Yuli, head of its AI platform, and Ma Ningning, head of its world model project, according to a report by EqualOcean Auto. The company said the restructuring is part of a proactive effort to strengthen its adoption of general AI technologies and to accelerate the delivery of intelligent driving experiences.

NIO plans to align its autonomous driving and general AI teams under a unified “4×100 Relay” model, integrating pre-research, mass production, platform replication, and vehicle replication. The company is also preparing to launch iterative versions of its World Model 2.0 from late this year through early 2026, introducing language-based interaction and an open-set intelligence engine for natural user commands. The upgrade will enhance long-horizon reasoning through reinforcement learning, expanding NIO’s efforts to build next-generation intelligent driving systems. [EqualOcean Auto, in Chinese]
