When people your age start having kids

Are you running into people you used to go to school with, and suddenly they have kids? Are your friends announcing they’re expecting? Is everyone around you starting families while you’re still feeling like a 30-year-old teenager? Well, this trend is all about that feeling.

Man wearing sunglasses and a green cap raises his hand to block the camera, with text overlay about an awkward moment when someone claims they went to high school with him.

Watch the video example

If you can relate and want to join in on the fun (and gently poke fun at your parent friends), here’s what to do: film yourself acting like you’re being followed by paparazzi and trying to escape them. Then add a caption like, ā€œWhen some random mom with a kid says she went to college with me.ā€

ā€œEverything looks good in hereā€ trend

This trend starts with a typical customer moment. Someone walks into your shop, looks around, and says something like ā€œeverything looks good in here,ā€ ā€œeverything looks delicious,ā€ ā€œeverything here is amazing,ā€ or ā€œI love everything here.ā€

Barista with tattoos and a cap stands behind a coffee machine holding a milk pitcher, with text overlay joking about customers saying everything looks delicious.Barista with tattoos and a cap stands behind a coffee machine holding a milk pitcher, with text overlay joking about customers saying everything looks delicious.

Then instead of reacting normally, act like they meant you. Pause for a second, look a bit flattered, maybe fix your hair or subtly pose.

Slow days at the office

We all know how slowly time passes at work. It’s something everyone can relate to, which is why joking about it has become a popular trend on Instagram. There’s no set format, but people usually get creative with funny skits or captions that exaggerate the drag of the workday.

Look at the example below: one coworker says they’re ready to go home, and another responds, ā€œIt’s only 9:02.ā€

Man wearing glasses and a backwards cap sits at a desk holding his phone, looking tired in an office setting with text overlay saying ā€œI really wanna go home.ā€Man wearing glasses and a backwards cap sits at a desk holding his phone, looking tired in an office setting with text overlay saying ā€œI really wanna go home.ā€

To join in, film yourself at work and add a caption that captures the struggle of watching the clock tick by.

Are you not going crazy?

The idea of this trend is: What’s something you’d go crazy without?

You film it with a friend, or you can play both roles yourself. If you play both roles, make sure you wear something different or change the angle so it’s clear which character you are.

Woman wearing a black leather jacket and sunglasses on a street with text overlay ā€œI haven’t bought any new clothes recentlyā€ in an Instagram ReelWoman wearing a black leather jacket and sunglasses on a street with text overlay ā€œI haven’t bought any new clothes recentlyā€ in an Instagram Reel

Watch the video example

First, as yourself, say something you haven’t done in a while, like: ā€œI haven’t eaten sweets in a week.ā€

Then the ā€œfriendā€ asks something like: ā€œYou’re not going crazy because of it?ā€

You respond: ā€œNo, I’m fine.ā€

After that, switch the angle to reveal that the friend isn’t actually there. You’re talking to yourself, showing that you might actually be going a little crazy after all.

Confessions

Film yourself like you are giving an anonymous confession. Change your voice and black out your face so you cannot be recognized, similar to those anonymous interview clips.

Watch the video example

Then share a confession. The idea is for it to be silly. It could be a mistake you made at work, a bad joke you said at the wrong time, or something slightly embarrassing that other people will probably relate to.

Do what your heart tells you

We have all heard the advice to listen to our hearts. But what if our hearts do not always have the best intentions?

Start by filming yourself with the caption ā€œDo what your heart tells you.ā€ Then switch to a montage showing what your heart actually wants you to do.

Barista playfully hitting a coworker behind a cafĆ© counter in a humorous Instagram Reel with the caption ā€œMeanwhile… my heartā€Barista playfully hitting a coworker behind a cafĆ© counter in a humorous Instagram Reel with the caption ā€œMeanwhile… my heartā€

Watch the video example

The montage can include clips from other videos, memes, movies, or your own footage. Show things like slapping someone, eating a lot of fast food, sleeping all day, or any kind of indulgent or chaotic behavior you might want to do if you truly followed your heart.

…and maybe it’s best not to follow it after all.

Hurt the paper

This is a funny Instagram trend where you tell the viewer to ā€œhurt the paper,ā€ and then show the paper slightly crumpled. You ask them to hurt it again, and the paper appears even more damaged. Then you tell the viewer to apologize to the paper, but the paper looks exactly the same.

Instagram Reel of a woman holding up a crumpled sheet of paper in a restaurant setting. On-screen text reads, ā€œNow hurt the paper again.ā€ Instagram likes, comments, and share icons appear along the right side.Instagram Reel of a woman holding up a crumpled sheet of paper in a restaurant setting. On-screen text reads, ā€œNow hurt the paper again.ā€ Instagram likes, comments, and share icons appear along the right side.

Next, you introduce a ā€œsolution,ā€ and suddenly the paper is shown as perfectly smooth and brand new again. In reality, the solution does not actually fix anything. The format is simply a creative way to showcase something you love, such as your favorite food order, drink, product, or anything you want to promote.

ā€œBorn to…, forced toā€¦ā€ trend

This Instagram trend uses a simple contrast format: ā€œborn toā€¦ā€ followed by something you would rather do, and ā€œforced toā€¦ā€ followed by what you actually have to do.

Instagram Reel of a woman sitting at a desk working on a computer. On-screen text reads, ā€œborn to write ā€˜xoxo’ forced to write ā€˜best regards.ā€™ā€ Instagram interface elements are visible on the screen.Instagram Reel of a woman sitting at a desk working on a computer. On-screen text reads, ā€œborn to write ā€˜xoxo’ forced to write ā€˜best regards.ā€™ā€ Instagram interface elements are visible on the screen.

It is often about corporate life, office culture, emails, meetings, or other adult responsibilities.

ā€œNobody saw meā€¦ā€ trend

This trend starts off sounding serious. The text usually lists things like missing lunch, working late nights, making sacrifices, or putting in extra effort. It frames it as if nobody noticed all the hard work happening behind the scenes.

Instagram Reel of a man typing on a laptop in an office. On-screen text reads, ā€œNobody saw me missing lunch. Nobody saw me working late night. Nobody saw my hard work. Coz I don’t do any of that.ā€ Instagram interface icons are visible on the side.Instagram Reel of a man typing on a laptop in an office. On-screen text reads, ā€œNobody saw me missing lunch. Nobody saw me working late night. Nobody saw my hard work. Coz I don’t do any of that.ā€ Instagram interface icons are visible on the side.

Then comes the twist. Instead of saying people only saw the results and not the sacrifices, the joke is that none of those sacrifices actually happened. The punchline is something like, ā€œBecause I didn’t do any of that.ā€

It is a funny way to poke fun at hustle culture and dramatic productivity posts.

(February 3, 2026) Instagram trendsĀ Ā

Hard day at work

This trend jokes about needing a break after a long day at work, even if you don’t actually smoke. It plays on the familiar ā€œsmoke breakā€ moment and swaps cigarettes for something harmless or unexpected.

Three office workers in business attire stand outside a building blowing bubbles, with on-screen text about having a hard day at work but not smoking.Three office workers in business attire stand outside a building blowing bubbles, with on-screen text about having a hard day at work but not smoking.

To join in, film a short clip of you or your team standing outside like you’re on a smoke break. Instead of cigarettes, everyone is holding something else, like your favourite snak or even something over the top like bubble wands.

Math meme

This trend is a simple visual that shows how one thing can instantly change your mood. It uses emojis to represent emotions and a cutout of whatever brings you happiness in the middle.

Minimal graphic showing Gong cha bubble tea drinks with emojis and text reading, ā€œAre you good at math? Me,ā€ styled as a humorous brand post.Minimal graphic showing Gong cha bubble tea drinks with emojis and text reading, ā€œAre you good at math? Me,ā€ styled as a humorous brand post.

To participate in this trend, start with text like ā€œAre you good at math?ā€ followed by ā€œMe:ā€ Then show an emoji that represents a bad or neutral mood + a cutout of your product or happy thing +Ā  end with a happy emoji.Ā

This is math, right?

Taking notes

This trend taps into a familiar work moment: a manager noticing you ā€œtaking notesā€ in a meeting and assuming you’re being productive.

To participate, start the video from the manager’s point of view, watching an employee write things down. Then cut to the reveal and show what the notes actually look like: doodles, random sketches, or complete nonsense.

Clipboard holding a sheet of paper filled with doodles instead of notes, paired with text about a manager asking to send meeting notes.Clipboard holding a sheet of paper filled with doodles instead of notes, paired with text about a manager asking to send meeting notes.

Use captions to give viewers context, for example: ā€œI saw you taking notes in the meeting. Can you send them to me?ā€Ā

The proposal

This trend is basically pretending your product is an engagement ring.

Design a graphic with an engagement ring box open, but instead of a ring, you put your product inside.Ā

A ceramic cup of milk tea with latte art sits inside an open ring box on a neutral background, with text reading, ā€œWill you… get milk tea with me?ā€A ceramic cup of milk tea with latte art sits inside an open ring box on a neutral background, with text reading, ā€œWill you… get milk tea with me?ā€

At the top, add the text ā€œwill youā€¦ā€. The box sits in the middle, and at the bottom, finish the sentence with something simple and casual, like ā€œget a coffee with meā€ (or whatever makes sense for what you’re offering).

Reality show edit

This trend is all about turning your team into a reality show cast.

Get everyone together and film a video like it is straight out of a reality TV episode. Think dramatic cuts, fake tension, over-the-top reactions, solo ā€œconfessionalā€ interviews, awkward silences. All the clichĆ©s you have picked up from years of watching reality shows finally come in handy.

A woman wearing glasses sits at an office desk, gesturing with her hands, with on-screen text that reads, ā€œediting our content like it’s a reality tv show.ā€A woman wearing glasses sits at an office desk, gesturing with her hands, with on-screen text that reads, ā€œediting our content like it’s a reality tv show.ā€

Watch the video

You can exaggerate fake beefs, inside jokes, or everyday work moments and play them up for laughs. Even if it is a parody version of your company, it helps people get a feel for your team and your brand personality without feeling like they are watching an ad.

Police lineup

Here’s a fun one you can do with your team. Line up like you’re in a police lineup, take some photos, and add a caption explaining why you’re there.

For example, maybe the team chat got leaked. Relatable, right?Ā

Four women dressed in black stand side by side against a white wall, each holding a closed laptop and looking to the side, with on-screen text reading, ā€œUs after our teams chat got leaked.ā€Four women dressed in black stand side by side against a white wall, each holding a closed laptop and looking to the side, with on-screen text reading, ā€œUs after our teams chat got leaked.ā€

Watch the video

Think about other funny or messy things your team, friend group, or crew does that could get you in ā€œjailā€ and turn it into a playful, shareable post.

My brush, my paint, my canvas

This trend can be used for any of your hobbies, interests, or even the products you sell. In the example below, the brush is the knife, the paint is the cream cheese, the tomatoes, olives, onion, and salmon represent different colors or materials, and the canvas is the bagel.

A graphic comparing a knife as a brush, bagel toppings as paint, and a sesame bagel as the canvas.A graphic comparing a knife as a brush, bagel toppings as paint, and a sesame bagel as the canvas.

To try it, just pick your base (your canvas, product, or project) and start layering your ā€œingredientsā€ one by one.Ā

What’s on your mind?

To participate in this trend, use the caption ā€œWhy you so quiet? What’s on your mind?ā€ and pair it with an image of a head filled with pictures that show the answer. Those can be fixations, guilty pleasures, hobbies, or things your audience is really into.Ā

A line drawing of a human head filled with fries, salad, and a martini, illustrating food on the mind.A line drawing of a human head filled with fries, salad, and a martini, illustrating food on the mind.

The goal isn’t to make people think, ā€œthat’s literally me.ā€ When it feels relatable, people engage and share.

Office struggles meme

This trend is all about shared office pain. You take a common work situation people deal with, like ā€œCan we jump on a quick call?ā€ or ā€œJust circling back,ā€ and pair it with reaction images from TV shows or pop culture that show how it actually feels to hear that.Ā

A woman sits at a desk rubbing her eyes, with text reading, ā€œCan we jump on a quick call?ā€A woman sits at a desk rubbing her eyes, with text reading, ā€œCan we jump on a quick call?ā€

You can use multiple images in a carousel, each one matching a different emotion like annoyance, exhaustion, or quiet rage.Ā

Timothee Chalamet speech meme

This trend comes from TimothĆ©e Chalamet’s Critics Choice speech, where he’s genuinely thanking his partner, Kylie Jenner. People have taken a screenshot of that moment and changed the subtitles to joke about what they really rely on, like iced coffee, a notes app, or a daily habit that keeps them going.

TimothĆ©e Chalamet speaks on stage at the Critics’ Choice Awards while Kylie Jenner watches from the audience, captioned as a joke about relying on a 4pm iced coffee.TimothĆ©e Chalamet speaks on stage at the Critics’ Choice Awards while Kylie Jenner watches from the audience, captioned as a joke about relying on a 4pm iced coffee.

To use the trend, pick one small thing your audience depends on and frame it as an emotional thank-you.

Pick a number

This trend is a minimalist carousel that invites people to interact by choosing a number. The first slide usually says something like ā€œIf you’re looking for a sign, this is it,ā€ followed by a prompt to ā€œpick a number.ā€

Minimal white graphic prompting viewers to ā€œpick a number,ā€ with numbered lines arranged vertically as an interactive Instagram carousel.Minimal white graphic prompting viewers to ā€œpick a number,ā€ with numbered lines arranged vertically as an interactive Instagram carousel.

Each subsequent slide is numbered, and every number reveals a short message, reminder, or reflection tied to a shared theme (rest, burnout, motivation, slowing down, etc.).

Your brand’s Wrapped

This trend is a year-end carousel inspired by Spotify Wrapped, where brands and creators recap their year in a fun, branded format. The first slide usually announces the concept with bold text like ā€œ2025 Wrappedā€ or ā€œOur Year, Wrapped,ā€ designed to stop the scroll.

Graphic reading ā€œMoody Creative Media’s 2025 Wrappedā€ with playful typography and abstract dots, styled like a Spotify Wrapped recap.Graphic reading ā€œMoody Creative Media’s 2025 Wrappedā€ with playful typography and abstract dots, styled like a Spotify Wrapped recap.

Each slide highlights a different stat, moment, or theme from the past year. This can include top-performing posts, follower growth, biggest milestones, inside jokes, or behind-the-scenes moments. The visuals are playful and on-brand, often using bold typography, charts, or graphic patterns.

On the final slide, creators wrap it up with a reflection, thank-you message, or teaser for what’s coming next year.Ā

Zero-calorie treat

This trend is a simple one that plays on the idea of ā€œtreating yourself.ā€ One side shows a classic indulgence (dessert, sugary drink, comfort food) labeled with calories. The other shows a non-food treat labeled ā€œ0 cal,ā€ like skincare, shopping, rest, or a small luxury.

Illustration comparing a holiday hot chocolate labeled ā€œ520 Calā€ with luxury shopping bags labeled ā€œ0 Cal,ā€ suggesting shopping as a guilt-free treat.Illustration comparing a holiday hot chocolate labeled ā€œ520 Calā€ with luxury shopping bags labeled ā€œ0 Cal,ā€ suggesting shopping as a guilt-free treat.

The hook usually reads something like ā€œWhen you want to treat yourself, remember:ā€ and lets the visual comparison land the point.Ā

To join in, create a clean side-by-side graphic:

  • Pick a familiar indulgence your audience recognizes
  • Pair it with a feel-good alternative that fits your brand
  • Label both clearly and keep the design simple

Charger for myself

This trend uses a simple comparison to talk about burnout and self-care. The first line shows something practical, like ā€œcharger for my phone.ā€ The second reframes it as ā€œcharger for myself,ā€ followed by things that help you recharge, such as food, rest, movement, or quiet time.

A clean, white-background Instagram post comparing ā€œcharger for my phoneā€ (a single charging cable) with ā€œcharger for myself,ā€ shown as coffee, food, a vape, and a Do Not Disturb notification.A clean, white-background Instagram post comparing ā€œcharger for my phoneā€ (a single charging cable) with ā€œcharger for myself,ā€ shown as coffee, food, a vape, and a Do Not Disturb notification.

To join in, create a clean graphic or carousel:

  • Start with something people ā€œkeep poweredā€ (phone, laptop, calendar, inbox)
  • Follow it with what actually recharges you
  • End with a short question in the caption, like ā€œWhat’s your charger?ā€

ā€œThings I want to doā€ pie chart

This trend uses an intentionally unbalanced pie chart to make a joke. The headline sets up a broad idea like ā€œthings I want to do,ā€ but almost the entire chart points to one very specific option, with a tiny slice reserved for everything else.

A minimalist Instagram post by McDonald’s UAE showing a pie chart titled ā€œthings i want to do,ā€ with most of the chart labeled ā€œeat McNuggets with uā€ and a small slice labeled ā€œeat McNuggets by myself.ā€A minimalist Instagram post by McDonald’s UAE showing a pie chart titled ā€œthings i want to do,ā€ with most of the chart labeled ā€œeat McNuggets with uā€ and a small slice labeled ā€œeat McNuggets by myself.ā€

To join in:

  • Pick a broad category (plans, goals, priorities, moods)
  • Make one option take up most of the chart
  • Label the tiny slice as the ā€œotherā€ choice
  • Keep the copy short and let the visual deliver the punchline

(November 25, 2025) Instagram trendsĀ Ā

Wicked meme

Use the visual template below and adjust it to fit your own situation or brand. The trend works best when you replace the ā€œdefying gravityā€ reference with something that connects to your product or message. For example, Colgate turned it into ā€œdefying cavities,ā€ which ties directly back to their brand.

A Colgate MaxFresh toothpaste tube wearing a black witch hat and flying on a broomstick against a pink cloudy background. White text below reads ā€œDefying Cavities.ā€A Colgate MaxFresh toothpaste tube wearing a black witch hat and flying on a broomstick against a pink cloudy background. White text below reads ā€œDefying Cavities.ā€

Think about what your brand ā€œdefiesā€ or overcomes, and create a simple, clever twist that matches the format.

Unwrap a gift

This trend is a carousel where the first slide looks like a wrapped gift box with a caption inviting viewers to swipe to ā€œunwrapā€ it. Each slide reveals a little more, just like peeling back wrapping paper.Ā

A beige Instagram graphic designed like a wrapped gift, with red and pink ribbon crossing in the center and a tag reading ā€œFROM: PROSE TO: YOU.ā€ Below it, bold red text says ā€œSlide to unwrap.ā€A beige Instagram graphic designed like a wrapped gift, with red and pink ribbon crossing in the center and a tag reading ā€œFROM: PROSE TO: YOU.ā€ Below it, bold red text says ā€œSlide to unwrap.ā€

On the final slide, you show the actual ā€œgift.ā€ This can be a promo code, an announcement for a sale, a special offer, or a gift with purchase. It’s a simple and fun way to build curiosity and encourage viewers to swipe through every slide.

Wasn’t me

Create a fake text message conversation that starts with ā€œI had a dream about you last night.ā€ Add something specific or personal, like a joke about something you always do or wear, for example, ā€œWas I drinking a coffee?ā€Ā

A photo of golden sunset clouds with a fake iMessage text overlay. The first message says, ā€œI saw you in my dream last night.ā€ The reply reads, ā€œWas I editing a 6 second reel for 47 minutes?ā€ A second bubble responds, ā€œno,ā€ and the final bubble says ā€œwasn’t me.ā€A photo of golden sunset clouds with a fake iMessage text overlay. When the other person replies ā€œNo,ā€ respond with ā€œWasn’t me.ā€ You can include small, funny details that feel relatable to make the video more engaging.

Starbucks bear cup

The Starbucks bear cup has become a huge sensation, with people lining up the night before at their local Starbucks to get one. Creators are filming their journey to buy the cup and showing it off online.

On Instagram, the trend has expanded with brands creating or generating images of the bear and personalizing it with their own logos, products, or designs.Ā

Trap trend

This trend plays on the idea of setting a ā€œtrapā€ for something people can’t resist. Creators are drawing a simple box trap and adding a cutout or image of something everyone’s addicted to: snacks, skincare products, new clothes, or even their favorite comfort food.

A simple black-outline drawing of a classic box trap propped up by a stick, with a bottle of Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise placed underneath as bait. Text at the top reads, ā€œthis would catch a lot of you.ā€A simple black-outline drawing of a classic box trap propped up by a stick, with a bottle of Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise placed underneath as bait. Text at the top reads, ā€œthis would catch a lot of you.ā€

Brands are joining in too. For example, Hellmann’s created their own version using their product and joked that most people would fall for the trap.Ā

Fixing my problems as a child vs as an adult

Compare how you solved problems as a kid versus now.Ā

A graphic compares childhood vs. adult problem-solving. The top half shows a beige bandage with the caption ā€œFIXING MY PROBLEMS AS A KID.ā€ The bottom half shows three festive Caribou Coffee cups topped with whipped cream under the caption ā€œFIXING MY PROBLEMS AS AN ADULT,ā€ implying coffee is the adult solution.A graphic compares childhood vs. adult problem-solving. The ā€œas a childā€ side usually shows a simple fix, like putting on a bandaid. The ā€œas an adultā€ side might include a coffee, an online order, or another small and relatable habit that reflects how you cope with everyday problems.

Trust fall

There’s a popular Instagram trend where people pretend to do a trust fall, but the person behind them steps away on purpose. Even churches have gotten in on it. In the clip below, a priest lets a woman fall and tells her not to trust anyone, only to trust in the Lord.

Inside a large, ornate church, a woman with curly hair stands with her arms crossed, leaning backward as if doing a trust fall. Beside her, a priest in traditional black clerical clothing watches calmly. A grand chandelier hangs above them, and religious icons and paintings decorate the background. The on-screen caption reads ā€œTrust fall.ā€Inside a large, ornate church, a woman with curly hair stands with her arms crossed, leaning backward as if doing a trust fall. The emoji we deserve

Heinz nailed this trend by showing the tomato emoji we have versus the tomato emoji we deserve, using their ketchup bottle for the latter.Ā

A minimalist graphic compares two images side by side. On the left, a tomato can labeled ā€œTHE EMOJI WE GOT.ā€ On the right, a Heinz ketchup bottle labeled ā€œTHE EMOJI WE DESERVE.ā€A minimalist graphic compares two images side by side. On the left, a tomato can labeled ā€œTHE EMOJI WE GOT.ā€ On the right, a Heinz ketchup bottle labeled ā€œTHE EMOJI WE DESERVE.ā€

But the trend works for everyone. Think about an emoji you wish existed or one that represents you, your brand, or your product perfectly. Make a post showing the emoji we have versus the one we deserve and join the fun.

Try it for your brand. Pick an emoji that almost fits, then design the version you wish existed. It is quick content creation that fits easily into weekly roundups of top trends.

When the boss starts following you on social mediaĀ

What would you post if your boss started following you on social media? Play with this idea and make a funny Reel imagining what your posts would look like. You could exaggerate how much you ā€œloveā€ your work, your coworkers, or how hard you’re working to show what a good employee you are.Ā

Add your own twist by coming up with creative or silly ways you might try to impress your boss in this scenario.

ā€œBookedā€ calendarĀ

Think of an obsession or habit that takes up a lot of your time. Now go to your calendar and block off an exaggerated amount of time for it, and then screenshot it. For example, this tiramisu shop made a whole-day event in their calendar just for thinking about tiramisu.Ā

A digital calendar screenshot shows a humorous daily schedule with three events: ā€œWake upā€ from 10–11 AM, ā€œGet readyā€ from 11 AM–12 PM, and ā€œThink about tiramisuā€ from 12–7 PM.A digital calendar screenshot shows a humorous daily schedule with three events: ā€œWake upā€ from 10–11 AM, ā€œGet readyā€ from 11 AM–12 PM, and ā€œThink about tiramisuā€ from 12–7 PM.

You can do the same with something that applies to you, your brand, or your products and services for a funny, relatable twist. This format works especially well if you are a small business, showing personality while keeping content creation simple.

When life gives you signs

Sometimes life gives you signs, and sometimes you make your own. Edit a photo or use AI to create a shape in the clouds that’s a ā€œsign.ā€Ā

A sunset over the ocean with a cloud shaped like a wine glass glowing in the orange sky. The text on the image reads, ā€œWhen life gives you signs.ā€A sunset over the ocean with a cloud shaped like a wine glass glowing in the orange sky. The text on the image reads, ā€œWhen life gives you signs.ā€

To make it funny, it could be about your dessert cravings, a favorite drink, or a sign to finally buy something on your wishlist. You can also use this idea for your brand to make promotional posts more playful and fun.

You have to control your addiction

Do you have a sweet tooth or maybe drink a little too much coffee? Make a funny Instagram Reel showing it by balancing a chocolate on your hand or a coffee cup on your foot, like in the example below.

It’s a playful way to interpret ā€œcontrol.ā€ You can also adapt it for your brand. For example, if you run a clothing brand, you could balance a folded sweater on your head for a funny twist. Add an upbeat remix or Taylor Swift’sĀ latest songs to keep the energy high.Ā

Awards trend

Post a photo of an award ribbon or trophy and add a text overlay for something small but relatable you accomplished during the week. For example, ā€œAlmost sent that email but took a deep breath instead.ā€Ā

A pink rosette ribbon with layered pleats is displayed against a crumpled green background. The center of the ribbon has white text that reads:ā€œalmost sent ā€˜per my last email’ but took a deep breath instead.ā€A pink rosette ribbon with layered pleats is displayed against a crumpled green background. The center of the ribbon has white text that reads:ā€œalmost sent ā€˜per my last email’ but took a deep breath instead.ā€

The key is to be funny, like recognizing something tiny that somehow took a lot of ā€œstrength,ā€ such as getting out of bed on a Monday or resisting a snack you weren’t supposed to eat.Ā

Ghost trend

Post an image of a ghost holding a sign that starts with ā€œGhost your ex, notā€¦ā€ and filling in the blank. People get creative with it, referencing everyday things like chores, appointments, or anything they don’t want to neglect.Ā

A person dressed as a ghost stands in front of a storefront with the sign ā€œbodybliss PILATES studio.ā€ The ghost is holding a cardboard sign that reads, ā€œGHOST YOUR EX, NOT YOUR PILATES CLASS.ā€ A person dressed as a ghost stands in front of a storefront with the sign ā€œbodybliss PILATES studio.ā€ The ghost is holding a cardboard sign that reads, ā€œGHOST YOUR EX, NOT YOUR PILATES CLASS.ā€

Brands and creators are also using it to highlight services or products, like ā€œGhost your ex, not your nail appointment,ā€ making it relatable and playful while staying on-brand.

It is a perfect spooky season post. Swap in appointments, classes, or product refills to make it on-brand.

Reveal carousel

Create a multi-image Instagram post and slowly reveal something in each slide. The first image should include instructions for viewers to scroll to see the full reveal, like Ferrari did in one of their posts.Ā

A green background with a heavily pixelated image of a car and white text that reads, ā€œHOLD THE DOTS TO REVEAL THE FERRARI 296 GT3.ā€A green background with a heavily pixelated image of a car and white text that reads, ā€œHOLD THE DOTS TO REVEAL THE FERRARI 296 GT3.ā€

This trend captures anticipation well and works for anything from a product drop to a behind-the-scenes house tour. It’s a great way to get people to stop scrolling and interact with your posts.

Betrayal list

Open your notes app and make a list of all the things that betray you. It could be anything from parallel parking, getting your food order cold, Outlook’s search function, your iPhone storage, or your immune system, anything that frustrates you.

A black screen resembling a phone Notes app with the heading ā€œbetrayal listā€ and bullet points listing humorous grievances like ā€œchris from legal,ā€ ā€œwe have food at home,ā€ ā€œmy Diet Coke is flat,ā€ and ā€œpeople who don’t give me their pickle.ā€A black screen resembling a phone Notes app with the heading ā€œbetrayal listā€ and bullet points listing humorous grievances like ā€œchris from legal,ā€ ā€œwe have food at home,ā€ ā€œmy Diet Coke is flat,ā€ and ā€œpeople who don’t give me their pickle.ā€

You can also tailor it to your profession or industry to make it more relatable to people in the same field. The trend works because it’s funny, relatable, and shows the little everyday annoyances everyone experiences.

The circle of life

Put two to three things in a circle using emojis to show a repeating cycle in your life, like šŸ’» → šŸµ → šŸ’ø for working so I can buy matcha, drinking matcha so I can work.

An Instagram post from KISSA Tea shows a minimalist graphic titled ā€œthe circle of life.ā€ It features emojis of a woman working on a laptop, a bowl of matcha, and the same woman happily drinking matcha, arranged in a circular loop with arrows connecting them. The text reads: ā€œworking so I can buy Matchaā€ and ā€œdrinking Matcha so I can work.ā€An Instagram post from KISSA Tea shows a minimalist graphic titled ā€œthe circle of life.ā€ It features emojis of a woman working on a laptop, a bowl of matcha, and the same woman happily drinking matcha, arranged in a circular loop with arrows connecting them. The text reads: ā€œworking so I can buy Matchaā€ and ā€œdrinking Matcha so I can work.ā€

The trend is versatile and can be adapted to your personality, daily habits, or even your products.

ā€œYou look happierā€

This trend is simple. Pretend someone says, ā€œYou look happier,ā€ and respond with a funny or relatable reason, like ā€œThanks, everyone laughed at my joke on Slack,ā€ ā€œThanks, I just ordered new clothes,ā€ or ā€œThanks, I bought tickets to see BeyoncĆ©.ā€

An Instagram post from OAT Active features the text ā€œYou look happierā€ with the response ā€œThanks I:ā€ followed by three images: a shopping cart filled with matching workout sets, a Pilates reformer machine, and a cup of iced matcha latte. Below each image are captions reading ā€œwent shopping,ā€ ā€œwent to pilates,ā€ and ā€œdrank my matcha.ā€An Instagram post from OAT Active features the text ā€œYou look happierā€ with the response ā€œThanks I:ā€ followed by three images: a shopping cart filled with matching workout sets, a Pilates reformer machine, and a cup of iced matcha latte. It’s a fun way to share what’s making you feel good.

Our graphic designer is on vacation

Pretend your graphic designer is on vacation (or give them a few days off) and make a very simple, intentionally rookie-looking design. Draw shapes like a child scribbling, add some badly cut-out elements, and add the caption, ā€œOur graphic designer is on vacation.ā€

An Instagram post from Edikted shows a casual ad with the text ā€œour graphic designer is on vacation.ā€ The image features a woman in a pink tracksuit standing inside a large, hand-drawn pink heart with two shopping bag emojis and the word ā€œSALEā€ written in pink.An Instagram post from Edikted shows a casual ad with the text ā€œour graphic designer is on vacation.ā€ The image features a woman in a pink tracksuit standing inside a large, hand-drawn pink heart with two shopping bag emojis and the word ā€œSALEā€ written in pink.

You can also use this style in promotions or sales campaigns to make your Instagram content stand out among polished designs.

Unfortunately, I do love…

Take a short video of yourself and add a text overlay listing the things you love that are a little unconventional, rebellious, or just guilty pleasures. It could be anything from eating too many sweets, ditching my friends for cozy vibes at home, drinking too much coffee, or oversharing with new people you meet.Ā

Instagram Reel of Drew Barrymore walking backstage holding food while text on screen lists things she loves. The caption starts with ā€œUnfortunately I do loveā€ followed by a humorous list including being single, wearing a suit, McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish, talking about menopause, going out in sweatpants, rearranging a room, being very caffeinated, and her bearded dragon.Instagram Reel of Drew Barrymore walking backstage holding food while text on screen lists things she loves. The therapy

You’ve probably seen your favorite creators participating in this trend.

Film yourself with the overlay text ā€œI can’t today, I have therapy.ā€ In the next shot, show yourself doing your version of ā€œtherapy,ā€ but it doesn’t have to be literal. It could be something indulgent like shopping or rewatching an entire Gilmore Girls season…again.Ā

When we’re having a serious conversation, but..

Film yourself acting like you’re having a serious conversation, but clearly getting distracted by something you want to do. For instance, in the example below, the creator reenacts having a serious conversation while out having matcha with a friend, but still sneaks a selfie and takes a picture of the drink.

Instagram Reel of a woman in sunglasses and a black crop top posing for a selfie while holding her arm up. The on-screen caption reads, ā€œwhen you’re trying to have a serious convo but i haven’t gotten a story yet.ā€ Two iced matcha drinks sit on the table in front of her.Instagram Reel of a woman in sunglasses and a black crop top posing for a selfie while holding her arm up. He/she/they don’t know it yet, but

Take a video or upload an older clip from before something happened. In the example below, the creator films the cook before reaching out to him to do a TikTok for the restaurant page, playfully suggesting that he really doesn’t want to do it. Behind-the-scenes moments like this can make your brand feel more relatable.

Instagram Reel of a chef in a white shirt and brown apron chopping herbs in a kitchen. The on-screen caption reads, ā€œhe doesn’t know it yet but in 5 minutes the social media manager will ask him to be in a tiktok video and it will ruin his day.ā€Instagram Reel of a chef in a white shirt and brown apron chopping herbs in a kitchen. Who are you trying to impress?

Film yourself working, studying, or practicing and add a text overlay that says, ā€œYou’re working so hard, who are you trying to impress?ā€ Then transition to a photo of yourself as a kid, your parents, or someone special in your life. The key is to make it heartwarming.Ā

Frequently asked questions

How do I find trending Reels on Instagram?

You can find trending Reels by exploring the Reels tab and looking for videos with high engagement and frequently used original audio tracks. Check what competitors and influencers in your niche are posting, and follow creators who share updates on new Instagram trends and sounds.Ā

How many hashtags should I use on Instagram posts?

On Instagram, using three to five relevant hashtags is usually most effective. Choose a mix of trending tags, niche-specific ones, and location-based hashtags that connect directly to your content and audience. Avoid using too many broad or generic hashtags, as they can make your post appear less targeted and reduce engagement.

What role does user-generated content play in Instagram trends?

Reposting UGC content that already follows trending Reels is one of the most authentic ways to stay relevant. When other people create posts inspired by current trends that feature your brand or service, share them on your feed with proper credit.Ā

This helps you take part in conversations your audience already cares about while highlighting genuine social proof from your community.

How do I align Instagram trends with my target audience?

Trends only work if they fit your brand and audience. Before joining one, ask yourself whether it reflects your values, tone, and audience interests. Focus on trends that let you show your brand’s personality naturally rather than chasing what is simply popular.Ā

Track which content types your followers engage with most, such as tutorials, humor, or behind-the-scenes Reels, and adapt trending formats to match those styles.
