JD.com is making a major push into China’s home renovation market with its acquisition of Sichuan-based Life Home Furnishings Group, a large direct-to-consumer interior design brand. The deal was among eight unconditionally approved merger cases announced by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation last week, and was finalized on June 4.
Founded in 2010, Sichuan Life Home Furnishings Group operates the Lifeasy Décor website and claims to have served more than 200,000 households across 25 major Chinese cities. It offers five service brands targeting various segments, including premium villa designs and soft furnishing for high-end apartments.
JD.com has steadily expanded its presence in the home sector, launching its Home Improvement Festival in 2019, followed by its “JD Home” channel in 2020 and a self-operated renovation business in 2023. In May, JD opened its flagship home brand store, 101HOME, promising one-stop services, fast delivery, and extended warranties. [iThome, in Chinese]
